That's not quite true, there are OBD 1 scanners available. I own, and use the Snap On MT2500, since it is no longer made by Snap On you can find them with tons of extras on EBay, for cheap. That scanner with the correct cartridge will read all the codes, and systems on an OBD1 car, or truck, plus it has updated software available that allows you to use it on cars, and trucks as new as 2009. snap on mt2500 scanner | eBay

the Toyota cartridge and adapter are expensive and hard to fined 150$~
the Snap On MT2500 - 250$~

and its not Bluetooth

Toyocom is 60$~

The Asian primary, and troubleshooting cartridge for this scanner is not hard to find, and for less then 30 bucks you can buy both for the 1983 to 1997 model year Asian imports, and this cartridge covers all Asian imports, not just Toyota's.

Plus for another 73 bucks you can buy a used scanner kit, and most of these scanners kits come with the Toyota adapter to plug it into the OBD1 plug used on Toyota's.

But in case the scanner kit doesn't happen to come with the Toyota OBD1 plug, they are easy to find, and cheap, here's one for only 15 bucks. Snap On Scanner MT2500 MTG2500 Solus Ethos Modis Verus TOY-1 Adapter MT2500-50

So for less then 150 bucks for the scanner, 2 cartridges, Toyota OBD1 adapter, and shipping you can have a professional grade scan tool, in my book that's cheap for the level of performance this tool offers.

Plus if you own other makes, and models of cars you can test those too with this scanner, whether they be OBD2, or cars with the new OBD2/Can bus hookup through the 2009 model year. All in all i guess it all comes down to what you want. Do you want a professional grade tool, that'll do more then one vehicle, or do you just want something that only does the 91 to 94 Land Cruisers. Cheers

Desert Dino I'm not trying to start a fight with you, I've bought lots of items off of EBay for my Snap On scanner, and due to the scanners age, I'm willing to bet that those items i listed all sell close to those prices. Just because you need something hooked up all the time to monitor your truck doesn't mean this scanner wouldn't be a good choise for someone else. So i guess we'll just have to agree, to disagree with one another. Anyway, i hope you have a great day, Cheers!

The OBD2 rigs have Denso, the early 1FZ came with NTK. NTK 24044, for Cyls. 1-3, can use for both, only difference is the longer wires & NTK 24080, Cyls. 4-6, some places charge more for the shorter wires.
Thank you for best answer! 24044 is back ordered, so now I know I can use 24080 and tuck wire if I need to go that route.
