Well, I am changing out my O2 Sensors. It is turning out to be a PITA. I got the rear one off but now I have this to deal with. Is this fixable? If not, do I replace the whole wiring ?? between there and the computer? Any idea what that piece costs? Thanks, Dan.

If you can't repair the plug, get a new one at the dealer or a used one at the junk yard Most Toyotas of the same vintage will have that connector.

And then just splice the wires I suppose? Thank you!

Splice a used connector or to repair, remove the pins and solder the wires and reinsert. You will need a pin removal tool.

So where would I buy a pin removal tool?

I ordered a new plug for $8.

When rewiring these, keep in mind that one of the wires has shielding, and that the shield should not be shorted to the signal wire.

Also, crimp-on splices will work for a while, but my truck came with crimp-on splices that had failed. I redid them in solder with heatshrink tubing.

Slim- shorted to the wire? I am an idiot, please enlighten me

One of the leads to the o2 sensor connector has both a signal wire in the center and a braid shield around it. And then an additional layer of insulation.

Don't connect the braid shield to the signal wire.

Got it (I think- I will probably get it better when I am looking at it). Thank you.

I got replacement wires for the plug from dealer to replace the broken wire at the plug. They just slide in after taking apart the plug like on the other post. They came with the rubber seal in the end of the wire.

I used butt connectors, dielectric grease and shrink wrap. Guess I should check them as I am getting Code 25 26 again but the CEL is not on all the time like when I had broken wire.

it can take a while for the ecu to get used to the new sensors.

if it's not settled out after, oh, hundreds of miles, worry.

until then, don't worry.

I've been getting occasional code 25 (too lean) ever since I repaired a cut O2 wire. Can anyone tell me how sensitive the resistance/impedance for these wires are? Have you been successful at splicing the shielded signal wire?

I'm wondering if I should just replace everything down to the connector.

Thanks,

T.

repaired it how? The o2 sensor produces very little power so, you NEED a good connection.

my flux + solder + heatshrink repairs are working great.

If you used some sort of crimp splice, try soldering. apply some paste flux and make sure the wires are good & tinned.
