So I bought a 40# sandblaster from HF last week....it was complete garbage.

So now, I am looking at something like this: Sand Blasters : Pressure Fed Abrasive Sand Blaster 99H

Now, the question is is do I even have the capacity in my compressor to run this thing. The short answer is Yes, as long as I can do short bursts. I think I will need to upgrade to a larger compressor if I want to go full force though. Right now, I can piggy-back my two compressors for the meantime. Or, I can coax one of y'all with a case of beer to let me use one of your big shop compressors. :)

Oh, and I just bought some 0.023 mig wire, nozzles, and a 20lb argon gas canister; yup, its time to step up my welding game, especially as I am looking at welding sheetmetal/bodywork.

Finally got all of the bedliner off. Unfortunately, it was covering up some nasty stuff, like a rotten sill and many many small rust holes.

RUST BULLET the tub

Awesome work!!

I'm gonna blast that tub first.

You only think you have rust now. Wait till the blaster shows you the ugly truth :(

That's the plan...

Nope. If I cut corners now, I'll only regret it in the future.

Still have a few spots I need to touch up with the welder.

Looking good. All of your patching you are doing make sure you try and grind behind them, to make smooth like the top side. Prime and paint too. Did a few on my rear seal about the size of a quarter. Didn't try and smooth the back side, it rusted and bubbled the paint.

On the back side, I am grinding pre weld, and then hitting with primer post weld. Do you think that'll be sufficient?

Nope. If I cut corners now, I'll only regret it in the future.

Bossman's method doesn't sound like a corner-cut to me. The method sounds like a different, less invasive method. He's recommending non-surgical approach. With your philosophy I'm wondering why you haven't started disassembling the body. JMHO

Greg, I kinda am going that route. That's what the sand blaster will be for. I'm also going to be completely removing the rear quarters and replacing with new ones from CCOT.
