Thanks but it happens. I think she was alright. She said she felt shaky after initially saying she felt fine. It didn't hurt me at all. And the truck, well it's just a truck. But now it will be a truck with a bad ass bumper........and a winch, if I can ever pick a winch.

Has anyone wrecked one with the ARB or TJM already on it? How did the bumper fair? How did the other vehicle/deer fair?

I had a minor "bump" with my 100 series. It had the ARB Sahara bumper... The bumper itself fared pretty well, but it bent the entire bumper backward enough to creat about an inch separation from where the bumper meets the fenders. So... I think it actually bent the attachment points.

I was frankly disappointed, as it was not a hard hit.

I had an ARB Sahara on a 99 4Runner and hit a Ford Ranger at low speed about 10 years ago. The Sahara held up well. The Ranger? Not so much.

ARB's are designed to fail in an impact to lessen the force on the vehicle and occupants. Only steel bumper to still allow the airbags to deploy... That's how...

Not quite.

ARB has crumple zones designed into the mounting brackets. That zone is supposed to sacraficially absorb frontal forces so the airbags do not deploy PREMATURELY during a low speed impact. Other bumpers without crumple zones can cause the airbags to deploy unnecessarily.

The down side is that the bumper system as a whole isn't as strong as a system without crumple zones.

I've owned 2 ARB Sahara (both 99 4Runner), 2 custom winch bumpers ( 1 95 LX450 and 1 00 UZJ100), and an Ironman Deluxe bar (01 LX470). I'll let you know how the TJM compares.

A mounting bracket with crumple zones is smart. I don't know how much that the bracket costs, but it is probably cheaper than replacing your airbags.

Picked up a Badlands 12k winch for the TJM. On sale for $294 right now! Just need to do some waterproofing and swap the cable for some Dyneema.

Harbor Freight. Great winch for the money if you only use one occasionally.

You will be very happy with the TJM 13. I did a pretty detailed on the install of that bumper, its on this forum.

Got the truck back today and got the winch cradle and winch mounted before it got dark. I'll hang the bumper and finish out the bracing tomorrow. Not taking long at all, especially since it didn't have the Tupperware bumper to take off.

Archtaan, your thread is a great help in sorting out the directions: TJM T13 Bull bar installed - Lots of pics
