I installed a set of OME springs + shocks recently (2" medium-duty setup). I've found my cruiser to be noticeably stiff when driving around the city. ON rough roads it is very controlled, which is good, but it just rides too stiff on pavement.
I've read another post where some people recommend switching to Edelbrock IAS shocks, or Bilsteins HD. I would like to hear more comments about that. Also, I am wondering if changing tires would help, as I read before that some tires are smoother than others. I am running Dunlops currently. Thanks

There are some 80 folks here but I'll wager you'll get more geek talk in the 80 section ;)

That's odd. I've thought that each OME I've driven was supple and smooth - hard to beat. Bilstein shocks are as good as it gets but I wouldn't expect much improvement over the OME - same with Edelbrock as if anything they're worse.

How much air in your tires? Overinflation will do as you describe regardless the suspension.

Most suspensions take a couple hundred miles to settle into their eventual characteristics - wait a while before changing anything.

wesintl is right. The people who hang in the 80 forum will happily give serious weight and bombastic opinion to even the most mundane and obvious issue. :)

you are correct. I am getting a lot more answers on the 80s forum
thanks anyway.

I'm with you Honk .. air press and use the rig several milles get you the final feeling in a real pleaseure to drive a TLC with OME suspension ..

It is a LC. But I always froget people who drive 80;s expect a cadillac ride and the abilities offroad. SOmething thats not always possible.

i just installed the OME on this 81 and my initial feel is that the truck rides firm but not harsh.
so far i like it but time will tell.
i did fine the rear springs to be set up for a load even though i asked for a light duty set up...
cheers
