Hi All,
I swapped a 1KZ-TE into my 2001 Tacoma about four years ago and I've put about 20,000 miles on it. A couple years ago it would randomly crank, crank, crank but not start. Then, then next day or so it would fire right up no problem. It was intermittent so I had a hard time recreating it. It seemed like a air in fuel problem so I put an aux fuel pump in the engine bay and put a one-way valve on the fuel line at the tank to stop any potential draining into the tank. It kept happening so I took it to a mechanic who did a smoke test and said there were no leaks in the fuel line. Since then I have been chasing it:
-new alternator
-new fuel filter
-new spill valve
-sent the ECU away, no issues found
In last few months it has started stalling when coming to a stop, sometimes it will fire back up and sometimes not. I'm basically out of ideas. It seems likely to be electrical and maybe its one of the sensors on the injection pump, but I have no idea.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
