How long will the truck be at OK4WD?

The truck will be on the East Coast for at least the next three to four weeks. We expect to hold an open house for the vehicle at OK4WD -- to include all of the local Land Cruiser enthusiasts that want to come out -- sometime before the truck heads out to Colorado Springs for final SEMA assembly.

This has been a an amazing read. What a way to waste a slow Monday morning! I can tell you this is - it si pretty exciting. I'm amazed at the number of 'mud who's-who commenting on this thread (probably dozens more lurkers). Many of them are my go-to guys for LC stuff and many of them I call friends.

To add that this is at okw4d adds a good measure of respect, as I know and have done business with Jim and Rin. They have done an amazing job bringing previously known unobtainium into the US market. I'm excited to see what they do with it. Looking ig at the proposed list of mods, it's starting to look a lot like that lusted-after Patriot LC79 SuperTourer. For that I'm going to have to star saving my pennies!

To the doubters: who says the "mechanical genius" hasn't solved the "the chemistry problem" with their black box. I hope he has! I also hope he stays a genius in the background, doesn't show up at SEMA and isn't involved in the business. I've dealt with a few guys like that in my career, and they are truly geniuses, but can't interact normally. Sounds like the case here. (Of course, my spell check tried to change it to "maniacal genius"-seems that might be true too!)

Good luck, @John Papp - I hope you're successful.

Ben - let me know if you make a run! I could see a small cruiser meet up happening. I've overnighted a few times in their lot... I need to pickup some stuff there and would be a good excuse!

when it's all said and done all we want is legit proof of conformity to all US requirements legal use in the USA. We don't want any trade secrets, well some I'm sure would :)
Amen @coldtaco!

I could give two :poop::poop: how it's done, provided it's legal and compliant. Me want 8 cylinder turbo diesel!

This may have been covered somewhere else in the thread and if so I apologize for asking again.
Are these vehicles being sold with any type of warranty and if so who is supporting the warranty?
Are you stocking parts to support the trucks?
Thanks

Gun Runner --

These are Toyota trucks, but getting Toyota to warranty them may be a bit tricky. But I don't think that the Toyota warranty issue is settled yet, so please stand by. As far as replacement parts are concerned, we expect to maintain a significant stock of replacement parts, and we are even toying with the idea of providing regularly scheduled maintenance for some period of time after purchase. And as I said earlier, this is a Toyota truck and – with some advance notice – I suspect that most any authorized Toyota dealership should be able to provide regular maintenance / service. Hope that helps and please let me know if you have any additional questions.

v/r,

John.

Your local Toyota dealership is obviously much better than mine. My local guys don't even realize my 70 Series is a Toyota product.
Thanks for the reply.

The vehicle warranty will be null and void the moment it is registered in the US market for keeps. For TMS USA, they honor warranty on non-US vehicles on a case by case basis only if they are traveling through the US (verifiably).

There is a good chance TMS USA is going to say "pound sand."

Do you have a direct connect in the US with TMS, USA Service and Parts support engineering department in Plano, TX? They are the ones who would make determination of what parts to carry in the North American EPC as well as what stocking levels should be at the over 1500+ Toyota dealers nationwide.

They also control what education is given to technicians at dealerships and dealer support level.

Almost NO engine parts are available for the 1VD-FTV in the US market. You can't even get an air filter here in this market for this engine.

The good thing is that the chassis is still basically a combination of 80 series/100 series/70 series so all parts are still available. Nothing for the transmission will be available in the US market. Transfer case parts will be pretty much all available.

No HVAC and almost no interior parts support will be available. There will also be almost non-existant body parts support if one of these trucks gets in an accident and needs body work at a body shop. The insurance folks are going to have a field day.

No wiring harnesses, electrical parts etc. are available as well in the US market for these trucks.

Well --

Let's all put our heads together and figure out how to put a proposal together that makes sense for all parties.

JP.

Jeez Beno, there aren't any parts for a Ferrari Dino and that hasn't stopped me from owning one.

Poverty, maybe, but certainly not the lack of dealer support or supply chain.

Um OK. It's obvious you have experience in the TMS USA dealer world and the world of parts procurement and service.

It's obvious.

I think the point is that you would have to treat the care and feeding of this vehicle like an unsupported exotic and a not a Tundra you bought at your local Toyota dealer.

If I bought one of these, I wouldn't treat it as an exotic car like a Ferrari. They are meant to be used. Also, a fully loaded Tundra will cost just as much as one of these if not a bit less.

I'm not saying you don't drive it. I'm saying if you buy it you have to go into it aware that there is no warranty and no parts supply chain, so you're on your own as if you had imported some classic exotic car. $100k with no warranty and no parts is a lot different that buying a US market vehicle at a dealership. Narrows the customer base considerably.
