Installed… quite happy with the results. I’ve only made a lap around greater Victoria, but the 30ish mm bar makes s noticeable difference. It corners with much flatter now without being too harsh riding.

Most of you know I have a roof top tent. Got a new one last month. It’s a nice way to travel, makes sleeping much more convenient and private/safe. Being up high has its advantages. Anyhow, the prices have gotten stupid. Especially anytime something comes through a Canadian market the ‘conversion’ costs are ridiculous.
That being said. There is a company in Langford that will rent a roof tent. iKamper seems to be the popular tent as of late. They charge $90/day. Seems a bit steep to me, more than a car at National. But anyone wanting to just check it out for real it’s certainly something to consider.

To be honest, originally iKamper was much cheaper to buy than my Autohome Maggiolina but I guess the market has caught up. I suspect a secondhand tent would be a good way to go. But the margins are small as it’s still a growing ‘overland’ industry.

I got a fantastic demonstration from a dealer in Idaho Falls. He had a full size iKamper on a full-size Dodge.
Guy was practiced, but literally as fast he undid the straps and pulled the ladder to the ground it was set up. To be honest, I was having second thoughts about not having looked at iKamper more thoroughly. But they are very wide, way too wide for my bushwhacking 60. On the back of a taco, maybe? Anyhow just a bit more to think about.

So I've been trying to solve this problem for a while. Tailgate height and getting in and out of the back end.
This thing is really too expensive. But apparently warrantied forever. It's thin profile, takes a lot of weight and is easy to use.

Australian idea - much better as it's full width. Very cool.

I like how the flipstep puts a dog in the pictures, but then they deck the freakin thing with expanded metal aka dog toenail remover.

Thinking about it ( because I have the same issue)

My tire carrier is always open when I have the tailgate open. (obviously...)

a bar that hinged off the back of it with a 90 on the end...it could be up over the tire when closed and flip down when open to be a step.

Or a second hinge so the 90 piece would fold flat when stored...

Measurements would need some playing with, but here's a 3 minute paint sketch as I make good use of my time at work

Maybe it wouldn't work, but it'd be easy to try. Especially on my s***ty old carrier lol

tie wrap entryway rubberized carpet to it for a dog. I'd be tempted to cut in in half and double or more its width. But for camping where
I do cook on the tailgate a narrow step would save my knees and give me the room.

Not bad idea, but center of tire or swingout is still too close to the tailgate unless you had the step offset to the center or designed
a bit to be accessible from the rear or perpendicular to the swingout.

Mine reaches past the back of the tailgate, so I'd think it'd be doable. I'll poke around with it next week.

My point was they're advertising it for a dog, and then you have to modify the expensive thing to not risk injuring it?

That'd be a hard pass even if it was cheaper. :meh:

center of tire is further out from the tailgate than I thought. Good idea.

Here ya go, Nick! Of course it would be like a model T pulling a Space Shuttle but the future is neat!

Charcoal grills!

I have a small very controllable grill I use manny times a week.

I long felt I needed a larger grill for larger cooks but also slower cooks and smoke.

My inspiration

And here it is, all built out of available metal.

Lamb burgers!!
I like it, nice work!

I see it includes a feature which is motivational to not develop a beer gut...less it be scorched! :p

Looking forward to a snow run again with the little BBQ!

Anyone installed a sink faucet with something like this on it?
Picked up a basin sink for the bathroom, but this is different...

Black plastic tube comes from the bottom of the tap to this grey plastic fitting. Threaded like it screwed onto something.

Kinda looks like a foot valve but my best guess is for aeration?

I'll hook it up and see if water pisses out of it I guess.

Is it one of those things for the plug on the sink?

Some faucets have a thing you pull to plug the sink drain., it goes via a thing similar to a brake cable on a bike...

No it's a tube for something. Air , water or soap. Although I doubt soap because it'd be pulling it all the time.

I'm thinking aeration. Tap itself is rectangular so it doesn't have the mesh.

In the end we may not even use it, so it may remain a mystery 🤣

After being reincarnated I need to get the A/C recharged in my car. Last A/C work I had done was by Searl’s Automotive and they did a decent job (Ford E350).

Any recommendations for a 2008 Toyota in Victoria?

Brian played several guitars over the course of the show. I can’t say for sure how many… although we had a good view of the stage, the air was somewhat thinner from the sixth floor seats than on the stage.

They sure could still play.
