Well, I cleaned the gradu from my exhaust manifold and found two cracks.

I did a search and each thread seemed to mention cracks where the manifold meets the head, but mine are where the intake and exhaust manifold meet.

Here are some pics.

So the ago old questions are:

1) Don't worry about them?
2) See if someone can braze them?
3) Grind and permatex them?
4) Give up and find a new exhaust manifold?

If these were at the mating of the manifold to the head, I would probably try to replace the manifold, but I was not able to find enough info on cracks in this location.

I am really not interested in putting headers on unless I have no other option.

Thanks for the replies. Dang, off to the parts classifieds I guess.....

Probably cheaper to find a replacement than find someone to drill the crack and braze it.

How well is your heat riser working?

It has been about 6 years since the engine was running so I guess I don't know. Is this caused by a bad heat riser valve?

I have the SOR block off plate to install when I get this thing back together so that eliminates the heat riser valve, correct?

I was told that the exhaust manifold often cracks b/c the heat riser sticks. My riser was stuck too.

When I installed the non-cracked exhaust manifold I removed the partially working heat riser and installed the SOR plate. I had a machine shop weld the heat riser holes shut.
