Okay guys you know its time; you've got the itch same as I do;p ........ I know it:D It is time to join up with our fine brothers to the North and do some off-roading and shooting of the breeze around a blazing fire with cold beverages in hand   We will be heading to Uwharrie Natl Forrest just north of Charlotte this coming weekend for wheeling friday and saturday........... The trails at URE are suitable for stock Cruisers so all can attend and have fun..... This is our last trip planned for this year so make sure to come out and take part!

The When:
We will be meeting in Greenville on Friday 12/2 promptly at 5PM for a convoy to URE for those who wish to join us........also anyone that can't make the convoy let me know and I will get you directions to camp. We will be off roading Sat. and Sun. and maybe throw in a night run if the mood is right :grinpimp:

The Where:
Uwharrie Natl Forrest OHV area, we will be camping in the open field adjacent to the trail heads. We will be camped there Friday and Sat. night.

The how:
Any Cruiser can make this trip from mild to wild so if you are new to wheelin your cruiser or a seasoned vet. of the trails come join us ................ and on the note of FOOD this time around we are going to give our esteemed Club Chef the weekend off so he can get some R&R..... so this means you gotta pack your own lunch!!!!! and BYOB. Also there is a fee of 5 dollars a day per vehicle courtesy of the Uwharrie Natl Forrest Service:beer:

This will be a nice relaxed weekend filled with cruisers and good company and I encourage eveyone who can to make the short trip up I-85 to meet our neighbours to the north and the weather looks perfect........ So come talk cruisers, wheel, and make some new friends!!!!!!!!!

Upstate Cruisers Party Planner

Yall want to meet at my warehouse fri as a meeting point. Large concrete are close to a spinx and cvs. And it's right off the highway.

What do ya say?

I need direction to log into the gps JP.

And does anyone know if we will be near water?

Marshall,

Don't have GPS numbers handy, but give the Ranger's Office a call, they should be able to help: (910) 576-6391

And, depending upon where you guys camp, you could be on the water. Badin Lake Campground has sites that border the lake.

Andy

well I am in the same boat, I need to fix, my alternator, leaky radiator hose, broke lower shock mount, and yeah my seals still leak ........ but I will be there broke neglected cruiser and all :D

So your rolled 40 is making the trek, JP?

FYI - Uwharrie should be no more than 2.5 hours from Greenville.

Question for you guys:

Looks like the ONSC crowd will all be rolling in at different times on different days. I know UC is more prone to use 2-ways as opposed to CB's since not everyone has CB's. Is there an official channel on the 2-ways? If so, I'll let the NC guys know so that everyone can communicate when they roll in, be it Fri night, Sat or Sun.

She is down and out at the moment I intend to bring my 62........ I intend to pull the engine tonight or tomorrow and then begin the process of stuffing the 3FE into it, so cross your fingers because I stink at eletrical work and this engine swap calls for quite a bit of it........... should have it all together for the MLK weekend Tellico run!!!!!!!!

On CB we'll be on channel 4.

On 2-ways we will be on channel 15 for long range.

hey Andy whats the best way to get there from charlotte/85?

Marshall,

The blue outline on that map (if that's the way you were thinking) would def be a long way to go. Here's what I would think would be the fastest way:

I-85 North from Greenville into NC. Once you get past Gastonia, Belmont, etc. look for the I-485 exit. It's right before the airport exits (Little Rock Road, Billy Graham Pkwy, etc).

Take I-485 East / to the right - this will take you around Charlotte on the South side. Get off on the Highway 51 exit and head north towards Highway 24/27 (51 dead ends into 24/27).

Take a right on 24/27 and head to Troy, NC. Right before Troy (after you cross Badin Lake) you'll see the Uwharrie Sportsman up on your right. Take a left at Uwharrie Sportsman. Take that road until it dead ends into Highway 109 (about 10 min) and take a left onto 109 north. The entrance to Uwharrie is the first left after you cross the Uwharrie River - Reservation Road.

You'll want to go past reservation road about .25 miles and look for the Eldorado Outpost on your left (can't miss it - gas station, short order grill, bait shop, hunting supplies, etc).

Go in there to get your trail passes, maps of the area, snacks, etc.

Should take about 2.5 hours from G'ville without traffic.

Wrote this quick and on the phone so if it doesn't make sense, PM me.

Andy

Meeting in Greeville...

JP, just got your message...

There is a Spinx visible from I-85 at exit 56 (hwy 14, airport exit). That might be a good place to meet. Enough out of town to avoid most of the traffic, mini mart for last minute items, pretty cheap gas (under $2 IIRC) and a big enough parking lot for a bunch of cruisers. 5pm is good.

How's that sound? Open to other suggestions as well.

Quoted from the NC board.

UPDATE: Slight change. Just spoke with Tollhole and there was a mixup with camping reservations. The Boyscouts were allocated Site C in Badin Lake Group Camp and we're now looking for a place to camp.

We have a few different options we're exploring but they are all first come, first serve at this point.

Therefore, we won't know where we're camping until we get there.

QUESTION: Is anyone else (non-Upstate Cruisers) planning on meeting / camping Friday night? If so, and you want to camp with this group, PM me so we can exchange contact info.

Otherwise, plan to communicate and track UC down as you come in on Sat / Sun by Channel 4 on CB and 15 on 2 way radios (Motorola talkabout type).

Andy

Looks like we will drive up friday night and scout out some sites that will work for us. Andy may be able to meet us out there and help. If anyone has time to go up early and do this in the daylight and reserve the sites for us that would be great. If not we will make do. Call me (marshall) if you have any good ideas. Thanks 864-414-0563

i plan on being there friday and sat night, but i came down with a cold yesterday. If it gets worse i may not make it. last night sucked, didn't get much sleep, i was either burning up or freezing. kinda dazed today on meds....gotta top off my front diff tonight.

Anyone else doing some last minute wrenching before the trip?
