I've wanted a 200 series LC for some time....the only way I could afford one was to pickup a "lightly totaled" 08 at Copart. I'm in WA state and will be fixing it up and applying for a "rebuilt" title, so it'll no longer be salvage. Anyway, I'm hoping to find some help on this forum which seems to have a lot of great info. So far I've only got the rear bumper and broken tail light removed, got some quotes for fixing the rear quarter panel, fixed tires and cut out the airbags. Next step is replace air bags, reset SRS comp and reset some of the seatbelts that locked up. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Curious about the front passenger door. Seems the impact was from the rear....but if it buckled all the way to the front? Wow. What’s the frame situation?

I’m guessing it went into a ditch and spun. The rear bumper partially torn off was not from impact, but rather extraction. Door damage was from a tree... Just a guess.

Keep receipts from all of your parts purchases

That looks like a pretty decent truck, considering the damage, and assuming you got a good enough deal on it to cover your costs and the reduced value. Are you returning it to stock, or do you have build plans for it?

Congratulations, looks like a great project. If you have any aspirations to build it out, this is a great excuse to upgrade to front and rear metal bumpers, since you need to replace/repair them anyway. Best of luck with everything, and keep posting while you work on it. I'm looking forward to seeing you bring it back to life.

Front bumper can fully be replaced, ironman has some currently for 999, install wasn't bad at all. I wonder if you can just add on a rear rlc or Robinson and call it a day on the rear end?

On the front bumper it's all plastic so if it's just pushed in on the driver's side front, take off the plastic trim under carriage part and push it out. Whole front bumper weighs only like 10 pounds it's plastic and light.

@John Guedry Of course it can be fixed. I like to play a game where I convince myself the upgrade is saving me money over replacing or fixing the stock part. My wife has been onto my games for decades, but pretends to agree. It makes me feel better when I buy the good stuff. :).

What's your plan of attack for those airbags? Can you just buy replacements straight from Toyota, remove, replace?!

Curious about the dirt and debris on the passenger seat and center console. The truck looks markedly cleaner on the outside than the inside. If the outside had mud all over it like it rolled in a swampy median, then I might get that a not-so-tidy tow driver brought some of the outside in. Might just be the photo, but seemed odd. Maybe busted off parts were thrown in there at the accident scene. Looks like a fun project.

I was in a rear end where Insurance replaced my rear bumper (should have just went with a rlc/trail tailor one). But I wasn't comfortable replacing myself. Then 3 months later my wife suprised me w a replacement ironman front for it. My buddy and I put on this past weekend. After it was on my wife says when are you getting the rear as one of the kids always rides in the 3rd row. I'm like dam I should've just replaced 6 months ago.

I had a vehicle that did damage like that, where the leading edge of the door was misaligned and when it opened, it bent the rear of the fender. I wonder if that might have happened here?

That is usually the result when air bags pop. Bunch of powder everywhere.

This going to be the first US chopped 200...? :hmm:

Those airbag sensors must be very sensitive - I wonder what set them off? I've seen worse damage from a day of knuckleheads off-roading and the airbags did not deploy.

I’ll bite. What was your cost?

Can you get a rebuilt title on a vehicle without airbags. I don’t think anybody “reinstalls” curtain airbags.

Here in TX you can get a rebuilt title all day long, only thing they are concerned about is having working seat belts.
