Hi guys,
got a problem tiday. I havent been checking the oil level in the engine for a month+ now. bear in mind that my alternatoer went so the rig was out of action for about 2 wks .
Check the oil level today nothing on the dipstick:crybaby:. No oil leak under the engine whres parked everytime and noe oil smudge at the tip of the exhaust and no smoke as well.
I topped it up abt 4 ltrs i think. Is my engine half screwed? Its still runs like normal. so...

I think as long as you didn't run out of oil completely (lose oil pressure) and the motor didn't overheat you should be OK.

Just got to find where the oil went.

when i changed the egine oil the last time i think i put in between6-8 ltr of mobil delvac mx.
Ny first suspecion was the oil pressure gauge look kinda of low. so,, its not blowing smoke or anything. Oh i forget to tell you guys i also added a bottle of Bulon which is slick 50 equivelant . probably that help a bit. dunno though

Does your truck have a low oil pressure shutdown that is actually working? If so you are probably OK since it apparently didn't shut down. If not, only time will tell.

its a 3b engine.

Well i dont know about the low oil pressure switch wheter the car's got one or not. But before i topped up the engine oil there was still pressure on the pressure oil gauge

top it up, fire it up and drive it, check the oil regularily for a while. it might have been an ooops when refiling the oil after a change.
if you are not blowing blue or having a puddle under the rig or the sides are covered with oil then you should be fine. if you still had oil pressure then no harm done...
cheers

If your alt was replaced, what did you do with the vacuum pump and its oil feed?

(I fortunately have never had to get into mine, so this may be blowing useless smoke).

In any case I agree, I don't think anything bad happened. But you might double check that vac pump or $$$.

thats a good question!! Cos we were in the middle of harvest so i called a mechanic in to replace the alt. i know theres an inlet and outlet. Do i just unlug it and check?

Took it for a spin today. it seems it doesnt have the grunt at the top end. the engine revs fine and sounds fine though. Still not blowing smoke or anything and the engine didnt seize up so...
