I am out of the club. 160K. Mine came back on in Feb.; IIRC, it was after some nasty washboard in Baja. Saludos, J

Bought my 80 two months ago, had the D light. Within days lost the D light and OD light! Put me in the club. Doh!

Have 180k on mine - d went at about 125k - add her to the list,....

Mine was out when i bought it at 195k, but it was out on EVERY 80 that i test drove before buying. Lowest milage was 135k.

If i see something lit in the dash, i know it's not in D!

No D on my '97. The bump start method didn't work either.

I have over 240K. I have no idea when my burned out. I have been driving this truck for over 15 years. I don't need the light to know I am in drive so I quit paying attention to the lights years ago.

Haha, this thread is a great 3:30am read :) When I bought my 80 at 178,000 no D for me... But about two months later if intermittently worked fr a few weeks, and then has worked ever since. I guess I got a self repairing 80!

no "D" when i bought mine @173000

Just lost my "D" at 173000. Very prestigious club to be in.

Mine was out when I bought it at 221. Swapped in the led bulbs behind the dash a couple of weeks ago (I'm at 222+ now), and had intended to get to the D then, but didn't have that bulb handy, and needed to get it put back together to drive that day. Once I cranked it up D was magically back on anyway!

My D worked for a day after I got my 80. I have gotten over the shock and disappointment. I'm ok with it now

Had no D light when I bought it at 196K and now it has 203K. But now I have hope that the "smack the dash" mod might work for me. :D

272K

When I got my '91 with 270K on it there was a "D" light, then all of a sudden...no light. I lived with it for a few months and then after I had the dash out to replace a part and reassembled it...I have a "D" light!

I must have smacked it without knowing it. Anyway, seems like the contacts must get crusty after years of use. Bulb could be good, but contacts dirty?:meh:
