Well, I finally joined the club and got my dream vehicle. Over the last 4 days, we drove this vehicle over 2,000 miles to return home. With the limited time that we had, we did as much exploring as we could on our drive back across the United States. Despite being 30 years old, this Cruiser handled the drie from California to Texas with ease. We stopped at three national parks along the way and now the focus is getting this thing baselined before we go on another trip to Northern Arizona next month for 7 days. I've already spent hours reading and researching different threads for my planned maintenance and mods and will likely make a long thread to share the progress of my build and ask questions along the way, similar to Ikarus' HDJ81 build thread. Regardless, I will be sharing the progress on here and recording the trips and the build progress and posting them on YouTube, this recent trip included.
Now it's time to focus on the next objective: baselining, some preventative measures, and other things that I want done. Getting ceramic tint, all fluids changed (oil, transmission, differential, brake, gear oil, power steering, coolant flush), air and oil filter, heater and radiator hose replacements, new valve cover gasket, heater hose control valve, EGT gauge installed, new radiator, auxillary trans cooler, coolant and trans temp gauges, thermostat + fan clutch, belts, and fuel filter. Will all of this be done before our trip in May? Probably not, but we'll see what all gets done before then. Looking forward to building this one out and seeing where it takes us!
