Just saw this on Charlotte CL. Thought I'd post here vs. in the classifieds. No affiliation, just stumbled upon.

1977 Toyota Landcruiser fj40

It looks like a '75 to me or a '77 with a '75 top anyway. I made contact with the seller. Turns out that I know the seller's family. Well known farming family in my area. I'll try to get by to look at the truck and keep y'all posted.

Howie, Cox,...?

Cox. One of the nephews had mentioned to me that the Cox boys had several 'cruisers stashed away. They ran them around the county when they were new as farm trucks and such. The trucks lived rough lives and got parked when they wore out. I know there are more than just this one. I'm hoping to see more of them.

So I went and looked at this mustard 40. It is a ‘75, not a ‘77. It is rough, but it’s all there. Rust in the normal places. DS floorboard is Swiss cheese as is the rear sill. It was used as a farm truck so it’s pretty beat up but, as I said, all there. The engine is a ‘77 2F. I passed on it.

I thought you liked rust?

@roadstr6 How did the frame look?
Did not look at the frame. It’s probably fine. I can look again if you are interested. I’ll be back out there again Saturday. The owner promised me that the engine will spin free and that it ran when parked 10+ years ago. The passenger seat and gas tank have been unbolted and are just piled inside the truck. Last two pics I have:

Thanks for offering, but you don't need to do that. I don't think I'd be up for tackling the restoration of a 40 this rough at the moment. Tempting though.

As I said earlier in this thread, there are more cruisers at this location than just the mustard ‘75. There were two others. I brought one of them home yesterday. It’s an ‘82 FJ40 with factory power steering, dealer installed ac and cruise. The seller also has a ‘84 FJ60 that is in good cosmetic shape with 300k miles.

I just bought this:

This one is still there along with the mustard ‘75:

The 60 is not running at the moment thanks to a gummed up carb. I left the seller a carb gasket that he needed to get the carb back together and he said he’d get it back running in short order. He’s looking for $5k -$5,500 for the 60. He’s a bit steep IMO but y’all know the market on these trucks. It’s insane.

I'll bet that 60 will be gone by Tuesday. The secret is out now.

The trucks are filthy. They’ve all been sitting in a barn for years. The 60 has one tiny rust spot in the passenger fender lip. It would be an easy repair. The truck is totally stock / unmolested. Has perfect snake blinders and a perfect headlight washer reservoir. You don’t see that ever. It does have a lot of miles. Springs are saggy. Shame about that factory roof rack. Oh well.

Sweet find on that '82!

I'd hate to see a rig as complete as the mustard 40 parted out. But if some one buys it to part out, I'd be interested in the front doors if they're solid.

Depending on price...that was a smart buy on the ‘82. Those seem to sell for decent money in way worse shape then the one above appears to be in.

Guess that guys favorite color is yellow or those were the trucks selling the slowest on their lot.

I am calling the bezel police on the 82!!!

The 40 listing is gone.
Has the 60 been listed on CL?
No. I can provide a phone number for if you want it. PM me if you do.

I paid more than I wanted to, but i think it’s worth it.
