So I've got some bad news, I pulled the radiator out of the cruiser and took it to a very reputable radiator shop in town. They went over it with me when I dropped it off, immediately showed me some damage in the corners of it, and an obvious leak. Also they pointed out that this was an aftermarket radio. I left it with them today, and got the call a few hours later saying that my radiator did not pass the pressure test, and that it was leaking in many places and not able to be repaired. So now I'm in the market for a new rad, and really want OEM quality, or a used OEM one if anyone is selling. ;)

What are you guys running? Would like to retain tranny cooler also.

Currently replacing things "while I'm in there" right now the water pump is kicking my butt. I can't get this last hose off because the hose clamp has been put on there backwards, and the AC/PS bracket is actually blocking it. Is there any way around taking that bracket off? Pic to show hose I am talking about

I’ve known I had an exhaust leak for awhile, and it’s finally time to get it taken care of because i have to get her smogged pretty soon. That being said, I just want to get a bolt in cat back setup, what are my options as that’s concerned. I do not like the thought of taking it to an exhaust shop. Here’s a pic so you can see at least part of the damage, there are many other holes on the way to the tailpipe.

Here's the easiest and best solution: Toyota part number 17405-61240, retail $336.71, or $256.37 through toyotapartsdeal.com. Pipe, flange, and muffler all-in-one from the Y-pipe back. That's the route I went when I replaced the exhaust in my '89 FJ62.

I thought I heard some where the OEM setup was discontinued. I searched around for awhile last night and couldn’t find anything. Thanks man! I’m going to get one on the way!

Little update for you guys and some questions. My fuel injector o rings are shot and they are pissing fuel down onto the exhaust manifold. So I’m trying to get a parts list put together so I can have everything when I start this project.
So far I have the upper and lower o rings, and the intake manifold gasket. What other odds and ends do I need? How difficult of a job is this?

It’s pretty easy. Leave the throttle body and everything that attaches to the upper intake attached to it, just unclip the wires and hoses. Remove the hard section of fuel line that goes to the cold start injector first, as it’s pretty easy to bend if you leave it attached while trying to get that bulky plenum out.
I would have new copper washers that serve as gaskets for the fuel rail, you can usually re-use them but they are pretty easy to drop and loose, and they aren’t magnetic.

Do you have to keep smog where you live? If not, it’s a good time to loose the air injection rail as access to it is super easy with the upper intake off.

Today was the first day of my injector o ring replacement project, I only have a few hours after work and I am being very meticulous. Here’s my pile o parts, also has components to do a knuckle rebuild thanks to Jason.

Now for the bad news...
While removing the EGR I managed to snap the accordion style metal hose :(
I can’t seem to find a replacement anywhere, can one of you guys help?

impressed with your progress over the life of the truck! looks like quite the project - I will certainly be doing a lot of the same!

cheers and beers

Sounds like it’s a perfect time for a desmog.

I have decided that while I’m in there, I want to replace the fuel injector cups. I can’t find them anywhere, does anyone have a part number for them or know if some that would work?

Got everything put back together with the EGR blocker plate and plug, holy crap this thing runs so dang smooth now! I love forced mods haha. I do have one question for the fellow mud guys, I can’t seem to figure out where this vacuum line goes, it comes off the intake manifold on the passenger side.

Bad news guys, I think my stock radio just crapped the bed. My rear speakers haven’t been working for awhile now which I thought was odd, and then today the radio wouldn’t come on after work. The lights on it work just fine, but no tunes. Think it’s time for a forced upgrade.

I'm assuming you figured this out - it goes to the large port on the bottom (facing the firewall) of the vacuum control valve on the charcoal canister. Part ID 77254A is the vacuum hose.
