Hello and THANKS ALOT! My journey has just begun and I can't stop thinking about these rigs. It all started when my wife and I really liked the looks of the new fj cruiser. We looked into them and decided to pass due to family/ financial priorities (1 lil' boy and another one planned in the near future). Not being able to get this new yoter out of my mind I stumbled on this site and discovered the 80 series, the grey clouds parted, HOLLEY LU YAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
I've always loved there looks, but there price was close to what we paid for our house, so I never really considered them. Now that they are 10 year's old the snobby yuppies that could afford them what to get into new hybrids, AWESOME!!!
Any way, I've really enjoyed reading this well put together forum and I'm greatful of it's existance.
It's time to part ways with my 97' F-150 with the "maybe I can" 4x4 system! I would like to share my plan of attack for getting one of these sweet rides into my driveway and see what you all think.
1- Checked into financing a vehicle that is 10 year's old (YIIICKS!) Finally found our employee credit union would finance a 97' and newer for 48 months at 5.5% (SWEET!)
2-We live in the RUST/ SALTED road belt. So possibly try to find a rig to the south.
3-Find an 80 that was used as a yuppie grocery getter that has less than 100k.
4-Only settle for an 80 with lockers.
Well, so far my search has been tough and I've discovered I'm not the only one in search on an 80 with lockers I found a clean 97 on long island with 60k for $15,000 (not wanting to settle for an 80 without lockers I passed).
This weekend I will be looking at an 80 in Buffalo with 111K for $9,995 with lockers.
So, what do you think of this plan and prices? Any one want to part with or know of an 80 with this discription?
Thanks, Chris
