newb wanting a flat color

I purchased CARC OD green to paint my FJ40 but ran into two problems.

1. Paint booth on base wont let me use anything over 1.1 VOC
2. wife thinks it is too light of a color.

Can anyone recommend a paint combo? I am looking to do a dark green flat (same color as the krylon fusion camo green) but dont want to do it with spray paint. Also need a good primer.

I have seen lots on painting a quality resto etc but I am looking for a flat quasi trail rig.

Any paint can be flattened. Just try to find one under your 1.1 voc limit and flatten it.

If you buy your paint from a paint store, they should be able to tint the color how ever you want it. I recently sprayed an OD truck, and now I am about to spray one of my own. I wanted something darker as well, so I had them tint the left overs from the other truck, and then actually make more of it for me to mix in.
As far as a primer, if you are going dark color anyways, don't buy gray primer. They can sell you or mix a dark, or black primer. You can also just use black epoxy primer. It will seal the panels better, and can be sprayed over with your OD. Coverage would be better, so you would not have to use so much OD to achieve the color.
