I’m hoping to find somebody in the New York, Long Island area who can take a gander at my daughter‘s 1973FJ40. She was stuck in a rain storm without the top on. Now her blinkers aren’t working.🙄. I am unable to make it out from the Midwest for at least another month. Likely a simple issue, ground? I thought this would be a good starting point

Not a lot of wiring and such for a 73. Check the fuse. Check the bulbs. Put the hazards on/off like 20 or 30 times, same for left and right turn. Yea rusted ground can make stuff not working.

A little backstory... I refurbished this 40 from the ground up as a graduation gift for her. (Baylor nursing). Delivered it to long island from Iowa. She loves it (after learning to manual shift). Anyways, she had a tumor removed from her brain last month and is now going through chemo and radiation. She isn't able to drive at the moment but her mom takes her on short trips. The last time out they were caught in a rainstorm and the wiring apparently got soaked. Now she's stuck inside undergoing treatments and her little fj40 adventures are on hold until we get some blinkers working. Am thinking a simple ground issue? Wiring has never been my favorite. Any help would be appreciated

Maybe look on Angie's list for a good mobile mechanic in her area - how much could it cost to check a fuse, bulbs, a switch or two - its not like you are asking for custom tuning on a nitro ingested funny car.

Hope she continues to recover.

Ray, fist, sorry to hear about your daughter's illness, I hope she makes a fast and full recovery.

I am on Long Island and know a few other Mud members who are also nearby. Would be glad to try to help, with the disclaimer that like you wiring is not my strong point. I will send you a DM with my contact info including cell phone.

Thank you for the offer. Tom V has agreed to stop tomorrow to take a Quick Look as he will be nearby. I can keep you posted as to any developments. Thank you again.
