Hey everyone, my name is Aaron and this is my first post as a FJ40 owner. I purchased a 72' FJ40 over a month ago from guy in Bend, OR and moved it to a storage unit down the street till I got my garage cleaned out. The guy has painted it, and has all new hinges, locks, brackets, and seals for it, but never got back to putting all of it back together. This is a first car build project for my oldest 15yr old son and also youngest son 11yr. Just Friday I was able to bring it home finally. Yesterday we pulled it out washed it and tried to start it up before ripping out the old wire harness and putting in a brand new one. Second try it fired up! Amazing.. haha. We are working on wiring, wrapping, cleaning, and hiding the wire harness as much as possible. Thank you in advance for all the help.

Looks to me like the engine is way too far forward, assuming engine temp does not become an issue (due to fan blade size/shape), I'm thinking clearance from the front diff (crank pulley and/or engine driven fuel pump) could be a problem when you bottom out the front suspension in off road terrain- - -check it out.

Welcome to Mud and PO mistakes and questionable modification.
The front shackles reversal hanger is the old style from Oregon , it is not at the right place on the frame , PS box mounting look weird
So, where is the hanger supposed to be on the frame? I'm not sure what the PS box is from.

Those two holes on the hanger suppose to fit on the two holes on the frame end
Your front springs are probably install with the short side forward to keep the front axle stock location , just like on the later reversal kit from man-a-free , but the later hanger are angle to the rear and mount at the end of the frame

I hope those pics make you understand what i try to explain 😁

Yeah, I believe so. I'll look at them more detailed in the morning, at work now. Thanks
