Thanks folks. I get the whole mud flap removal or a bit of dremmel here and there. My big question is, why the rub on some and not others. Does't really matter, just always wondered as i thought it was an interesting issue.
This question come up all the time, and I ask it too.
You'd think it would be straight-forward, but sometimes it's not.
If you're asking about a pretty standard tire on a stock, or super common setup, it's pretty easy. But sometimes it gets confusing.
Any combination of the following is possible.
-Factory wheel offset +60.
-Rock Warrior wheels are +50.
-Many here run 18" wheels that are +20, and there are others still.
-Some run wheel spacers with any of the above...or not.
-Lifts vary in height and type & other suspension alterations such as spacers...or none at all add to the mix.
-Aftermarket upper control arms...or not.
-Stock bumper with tight wheel wells? or aftermarket bumper with nearly NO wheel well?
-Tundra front end suspension replacement possible.
-Tire *actual* dimensions are really unique to each tire model due to tread-width vs. over-all width, and on and on.
-Example: Some manufactures state 34" when you really get 32.5...or some other dimension. -Wheels width you mount them on also change overall diameter somewhat--with wider wheels allowing tire's to flatten a bit more compared with mounting on a narrower wheel.
-You could have two identically numbered tires, but one might have a more square edge to the treads.
Good news is that a lot of folks here have tried lost of combinations.
But ...even for experienced Cruiserheads, it's not a dumb question.
