Hello everyone,
New LC200 owner here in Saudi Arabia. I had been on the lookout for a clean LC but most vehicles are driven quite hard and long here.

So as luck would have it, I managed to find a 2013 5.7l VX.R with only 16,000km!!! Needless to say I am chuffed. Apparently, it was someone’s second car so used sparingly. Second owner (I’m third) said he had oil changed about 5-6 months back as well as new Tyres (dunlops grandtrek). The car is in excellent condition if I do say so myself.

Unfortunately it didn’t come with the owners manual, however I found the American owners manuals online.

I assume the LC has sat for a while unused, so want to do some maintenance to ensure things are up to date. Easy thing would be to take it to the Toyota dealer and let them do what’s needed. But thought to join the forum and get guidance on what you guys may recommend. Mind you, this is a GCC spec car where the summer is consistently above 45C for 4-5 months.

Congrats on the new car. Where in SA are you? We are in Dammam quite a bit.

Some fluid baseline would be nice for that truck.

Based in the Dammam area as well!
Yes I was going to engine oil and filters regardless. Wasn’t sure about replacing brake, ATF, Diff, Power Steering, coolant fluid as well.

Will say hi when we are in town

i would do trans, radiator, brakes, diff, transfer - and start it all fresh

just my .02

I do that on all my used cars

in america we over maintain things (mostly unnecessary)

With that kind of heat, maybe replace the battery? Is it dusty enough there to go ahead and replace the engine and cabin filters? If you do the cabin filter, be sure to put the HVAC system in RECIRC before opening the filter compartment. How about exterior and interior sun protection? Wax, 303 Protectant, and Lexol in the right places might help preserve things. And lube the propeller shafts. Those are almost always skipped during regular service.

Do drop me a message when you’re in town.

Yea, I didn’t get documented service history so best to be safe and do all of the fluids. And filters

So window films are already installed. Haven’t decided on what to do with paintwork yet.
Thanks for the pointers on the HVAC and the prop shafts.

List is getting long on what needs doing :)

Yes, you will find this with our "reliable" land cruisers.. LOL

wait till you have to fix valley plate leaks, radiators, timing chain tensioners, head gaskets, steering racks... etc etc :D

A couple of things I noticed:

1. The steering is on the heavy side. It takes effort to turn the wheel. Could be due to the tires? For reference, the other car I drive is a 2019 VW Teramont and it is effortless to steer. Granted it isn’t as heavy and a more modern vehicle. But I want to ask if the LC does indeed have heavy steering

2. The braking has a lot of ‘range’ before the brakes really kick in. Again a heavy vehicle might be the reason. But the braking doesn’t inspire confidence. Does that sound right?

Would be great to hear what these should actually feel like.

08 LC has very soft (less effort) steering wheel. Newer ones have more effort. When you replace steering rack, you get the new one.

braking is relative. Its like asking what kind of woman you like. Some people around here LOVE the OEM brakes. Some HATE it, and make upgrades. Depends on your way of driving and expectations.

Lots of comments on here about the relatively heavy steering. Doesn’t take long to get used to, but if your other vehicle has relatively light steering, it will certainly be noticeable. Brakes are the same way. OEM pads and rotors work really well, but with some “range”. Again, lots of comments on here about aftermarket brakes with earlier bite. Those can come with trade offs like noise and brake dust. I really like the OEM.

Yes, having dug deeper in the forums I find similar observations. Apologies for asking questions already answered.

Today took out the LC on several errand runs. Steering and brakes are growing on me. The last trip of the day was in my Yaris and the lightest touch on the brakes sent me into the steering wheel haha.
