I just went with 275/70/18 Duratracs. I have a 2" lift on the front. I had rubbing on the front mud flaps, but nothing that a box cutter couldn't fix.

Since this thread was brought back. I've always wondered the following,

Bama, or anyone really, Why/How would there be rubbing WITH a lift, but the OP had no rubbing, has NO lift and also had no rubbing when twisted on the trail, according to a post above. Just curious?

Bama, how did it rub exactly, backing out of driveway with wheels locked for example?

I think you'd get a little rubbing on the front mud flaps no matter what, but I think most people just remove them from the start. I did, and have never had any issues.

I took my mud flaps off and fixed it. When the wheel is at 1/2 turn or so, the back side of the tire would rub the closest part of the front mud flap inside the fender well. Remove the mud flap and the interference is gone.

Thanks folks. I get the whole mud flap removal or a bit of dremmel here and there. My big question is, why the rub on some and not others. Does't really matter, just always wondered as i thought it was an interesting issue.

This question come up all the time, and I ask it too.
You'd think it would be straight-forward, but sometimes it's not.

If you're asking about a pretty standard tire on a stock, or super common setup, it's pretty easy. But sometimes it gets confusing.

Any combination of the following is possible.

-Factory wheel offset +60.
-Rock Warrior wheels are +50.
-Many here run 18" wheels that are +20, and there are others still.
-Some run wheel spacers with any of the above...or not.
-Lifts vary in height and type & other suspension alterations such as spacers...or none at all add to the mix.
-Aftermarket upper control arms...or not.
-Stock bumper with tight wheel wells? or aftermarket bumper with nearly NO wheel well?
-Tundra front end suspension replacement possible.
-Tire *actual* dimensions are really unique to each tire model due to tread-width vs. over-all width, and on and on.
-Example: Some manufactures state 34" when you really get 32.5...or some other dimension. -Wheels width you mount them on also change overall diameter somewhat--with wider wheels allowing tire's to flatten a bit more compared with mounting on a narrower wheel.
-You could have two identically numbered tires, but one might have a more square edge to the treads.

Good news is that a lot of folks here have tried lost of combinations.
But ...even for experienced Cruiserheads, it's not a dumb question. ;)

I just ordered these wheels in photo below that have a 20mm offset and a set of 275/70/18 BFG KO2 for my Dark Gray OME lifted 200. Currently I have spacers from Slee on my rig. The tire guy said I would no longer need them. He also mentioned I could order the 305/65/18 to see if they would fit. Any thoughts? My biggest concern with the 305/65 are clearance of course and the 275/70 is looking narrow.

what brand tires are the 305's? How much lift do you have? front spacers? Do you go offroad? What UCA's are you running? I'm rolling those same wheels with BFG 285/70 R18's and it's about as big as I would go unless you add bigger bump stops... the diameter of that tire is very close to what I'm rolling(depending on actual tire size) but it's gonna have close to a half inch on each side of additional width. That additional width(depending on actually tire width, side tread etc could cause problems with the tire "tucking" into the fender. lots of variables here, I would say it will be close to working, may or may not... There is your non answer answer:)

kind of hard to tell from this pic, but the fender lip and tire have almost zero clearance between them...

The reason he said you won't need them is because with their offset of 20...that's about the same as the overall offset of my 50mm rock warriors with spacers...which creates a total offset of about 18.5. If you had stock wheels before, then they were 60...so you were likely at about 28mm offset, & still very close to these new wheels. You'll be slightly wider, but by less than a cm (unless my math is wrong).

Thanks guys.

I currently have the stock wheels with 285/65-18 BFG KO, Slee wheel spacers and Slee UCA's with OME lift. I do need to level the front end. I think the 275/70-18 BFG KO2 will be the best fit option that will give me a little more height over current setup.

I don't want to have a narrow looking stance and of course don't want to rub the fender well when I finally take it off-road. I want to do the Ouray run next year and learn more about what my vehicle can do with more experienced Cruiser owners. I should have a bumper and winch by then with a RTT which I am currently looking for the best one.

I think you might have forgot to carry the 9:D kidding.... Actually I think you forgot to account for the new wheel size 18x9 with a 20mm offset. Now someone please correct me if my math is wrong;) With the rock warriors at a 50mm offset with an 8 inch wheel, you simply take the wheel width, about 203.2mm, divide by 2, that's your center and then subtract the offset, which gives you about 51.6mm, now add in the wheel spacer(31.75mm) and you get a total of 83.35mm of wheel out past your hub. Now for the 18x9 just do the same math, but the difference is the wheel is 228.6mm wide, so the center would be 114.3, now subtract the offset which is 20mm and you get 94.3mm. So the difference by my math between your 2 setups would be 10.95mm, or just under a half inch of additional "offset" with the new wheels. If your running stock wheels with 60mm offset and spidertrax then the difference would be and increase in offset of 20.95 with the new wheels.

oh ok, so with the stock wheels then you would subtract anther 10mm off of it. So your new wheels would stick out 20.95mm further than your current setup...

I run that same wheel with a 285/70 R18 with the Ironman lift(similar height) but also added the Toyota coil spacers up front to eliminate the rake and also give the front end more clearance for my tires. Mine do not rub at all, now I did have to cut out plastic in the front and rear of the front fender...

So I don't need my current spacers as the new wheels will offset enough and pretty much give me the same width "stance" as my current setup.

here's how it sits with the front coil spacers and those wheels...

you definitely do not and should not run the wheel spacers with those new wheels. Those new wheels will stick out almost an inch more than your current setup. So you can get rid of the wheel spacers and buy the Toyota coil spacers...

Sweet! Can't wait to get them installed on the 4th of July :steer::bounce:

this should gives you an idea of how far those wheels stick out...

Ah. I forgot that yours are 9" wide...not 8.
RW are 50 offset though. Not 60. I have Rock Warriors, plus Spidertrax 1.25".
I'm thinking that should get a little closer.

But anyway...
Your wheels/tires have long had me considering a switch to your combo.
I do think you have about the most balanced look I've seen.

Watchu teenk?

yup, my bad, with the rock warriors and spidertrax you are only about a half inch shy of the fuels. With the stock wheels he is rolling and spidertrax it's creeping on almost an extra inch of offset when he goes to the fuels...
