so I ordered new seat belts. Talked to the guy and he told me the brown were the best sellers. I had been putting this off as I didn't want black receptacles replacing the brown ones but the slack in the belts finally got to me. I actually was able to slide the belt out and paint the plastic and it came out great. Problem came up when I went to install the tensioner and I am missing the piece that attaches to the truck. Called them and had to email them a pic and should hear back tomorrow. Hopefully an oversight as the ones on the originals will not fit on the new assembly without messing with it and I dont want a seatbelt I had to jerry rig to make work.

So is your old one pictured brown or blue.. I need a blue one

old one in each pic is the one on the left....all brown, sorry.

What part are you looking for John? I had to transfer the lower adapter from the stock retractor but it went right back into the stock location. I had to flatten the detent tab near the top but the bolts are the structural part of the attachment.

I need to check mine now. Got them a month ago but have not had time to put them in.

I had the same issue. I removed the bracket/hangar from the old, flattened the tab and used stainless bolts and lock nuts in place.
great....I was afraid of that.....I guess it wont be too hard to do that. The holes in the existing bracket are kind of small....did you drill them out to make them bigger or just use small bolts?

Had the same issue when I purchased my belts, they said the retractor design changed sometime during the late/early floor design. Called them up and they shipped out the extender that I needed the same day.

I appreciate you replying....I was going to start messing with my old bracket which means I could not sell them. I called and they said the 85 and later come with that bracket but mine should of worked without them???? Anyway, I had to pay $20 but they are sending them.

I re-used my old bracket on my '83. Little known fact: root beer cruisers have special seatbelts to accommodate all the arm-out-the-window high 5s that are part of root beer ownership. Didn't have to mess with the little tab. Pics on page 2 and 3 of the thread in my sig line.
