Long time 4 runner and GX 460 owner. Been following all of your great posts here and finally pulled the trigger. Found a great 2013 LC last wednesday the 17th with only 29,200 miles for $51,770 and traded in the GX. Smiling all the way back from Maryland to my family's place in Ohio. Visions of driving this back home to Iowa then to Colorado for my monthly skiing habit just kept me smiling. Yesterday the 21st, the vision comes to a very abrupt end.

Driving south on I-270 in the south suburbs of Cleveland on my way to take my girlfriend back to her home in Columbus. A big Uhaul truck in the left lane next to me, I'm in the right lane, decides to cross over the solid white line. Then the sadness starts. I'm laying on the horn and he pushes us into the concrete construction barrier. I bounce off of that, bounce back hitting the uhaul, he hits my rear end sending the crusier into a 180 degree spin. Now we are going backwards and the uhaul is pushing us head on. We hit the cables in the middle median and the uhaul tips over right on top of us. This all happened in a 50 mph constuction zone. Amazingly no one was injured or killed. Just sore. Uhaul driver admitted to being at fault and was cited. He said he was just following his wife in the car infront of him and failed to look over into the right lane.

Needless to say, I will be buying another cruiser. The police and paramedics said that the LC most likely saved us from serious injury/possible death. That thing is a tank but so sad seeing the pics. Very lucky everyone is safe and will continue my visions when I get the insurance check. Stay safe everyone!

Wow, good to know no one was injured or killed.... I feel bad for the cruiser, but that's what insurance is for; hope you get another soon...

This is why my dream car is a land cruiser. Your truck took a beating and you were able to make it out alive. Very glad to hear noone was killed or seriously wounded.

Wow - glad no one was hurt! At the end of the day they are just cars....totally replaceable.

(Wait...did I just say that?) ;)

Is it too early to start calling dibs on parts?..... j/k

Wow, glad you are Okay and hope to see you here again soon

Like everyone else...WOW! Very thankful everyone is fine.

Question, did the airbags deploy? I'm not seeing the steering wheel or any of the passenger bags.

Bummer, but she did what she was supposed to. It was a short affair, but she gave you everything she had! There are other fish in the sea!

Thank you all for the kind words. The airbags did not deploy. The side impacts I guess weren't strong enough for it. I am surprised that when we did the spin and hit our front they didn't go off.

I am on the net already searching for its replacement. Just have to be patient with the insurance company and their assessment first:(

um.. have you tried buffing it out?

just kidding. glad to hear you are ok. good luck on your hunt.

Glad you're okay, man!

Damn!

Glad you are still with us!

Very happy you are all ok. Going to share your story and pics to my wife to show her again why I'd only buy and heavy well made LC or G-Wagen(don't have one) regardless of the poor fuel mileage. These vehicles to me are just a little added family insurance.

Wow, holy crap are you lucky!! Glad everyone is ok and the guy who caused it was honest about him causing the accident, that should be one less headache for you in the long run. Good luck finding a new cruiser.
