Now you need to try and strip off all the good bits for spares for your next Land Cruiser!

tip: if you get the chance start with all the silver painted trim pieces in the cabin and door liners, also the faux wood gear shift knob, mats.

Also, pleased you're all ok.

Ugh, so sorry to hear that...glad everyone was okay. Your crash results are one of the many many reasons I love my LC. You know your family is going to be safer than in most cars. And hey, think of it this way...be glad that it was totaled (it was totaled, right?) instead of having to have your brand new car pieced back together, which would probably never be 100% right. Good luck with your search.

Good to hear you are all ok. After that U-Haul was surgically removed from your 200 it would have been interesting to see if it would start and have drive. Don't know if you have seen the UK Top Gear with the Toyota Hilux they tried to destroy but with basic hand tools and some WD-40 got it going again. Toyota tuff and safe thankfully in your case.

Phew!! Glad you guys are fine! Wonder how other similar size SUV end up in the same situation. None of the glass are cracked or shattered!! Amazing built quality that shine in situation like this, priceless!!! Hopefully I find my 200 soon!!

Luckily I won't have to worry about Cleveland traffic in one year after my family leaves. So far just waiting to hear back from the insurance companies. I would hope they total it but who knows.

I wasn't able to get back to the tow yard to take anything out. Back in Iowa now in my no fun rental car. Grrrrr!!!! Soon I will be back in the tank.

Thank you all for the kind messages!

I did replace it. Took a few weeks, but I found a 2013 certified from a dealer in NW Arkansas. Black with tan interior. I've put about 30,000 miles on it and have had no problems.

Insurance company did total it but would only value it with previous like Land Cruisers sold in a 200 mile radius of Des Moines. There are very, very few Cruisers in my area, and the cruisers the insurance company found had much higher miles and not the same color. They showed a mileage adjustment cost for more money to me, but that value was so small. I paid a little out of pocket money for the replacement. The agent I used was completely useless and never tried to help. I changed insurance companies after that experience. If I'm in a totaled wreck, I want the same mileage or near it and the same color for the replacement. Maybe I'm too picky and demanding?

Long time 4 runner and GX 460 owner. Been following all of your great posts here and finally pulled the trigger. Found a great 2013 LC last wednesday the 17th with only 29,200 miles for $51,770 and traded in the GX. Smiling all the way back from Maryland to my family's place in Ohio. Visions of driving this back home to Iowa then to Colorado for my monthly skiing habit just kept me smiling. Yesterday the 21st, the vision comes to a very abrupt end.
I think you and I are both delighted that we drive tanks. With me and a full tank, mine weighs 5880 on a certified scale. Very nice engineering on Toyota's part. You did get a great deal, mine was ~ $50K 15 months ago, she had 50K miles when I bought her.

Take care and have a good new year.

Steve

Why didn't UHaul pay for your replacement? I would have hired a lawyer to get them to replace it. But glad you ended up ok and are in an LC! Now we know what those ISIS guys know, the LC is tough! lol.

Only mods are the Toyo AT 2 tires. Might do sliders but most of my off road adventures will be on my BMW F800GS. ( I'm addicted to two-wheel fun.) With as many miles I drive I don't think I will do a lift, for now. My cash flow this quarter is going towards the wedding, fiance's med school loan and office expenses. Maybe 2nd quarter I will shift money to some fun on the cruiser? :)
