Hi there.
I am a 80 series owner and new to the site.
Just touching base with everyone and making an intro.

My 80 is a 1990 model so almost a vintage! she has a few idiosyncrasies and that is why I have signed up to ih8mud forum. I am sure there are a few specialist guys out there who know the 80 well and can give me some guidance.

I am battling to upload pics but will get one up.

I live on the east coast of SA so have great access to the Transkei and southern Mozambique. If anyone want info on those great areas, let me know and will give info.

Hi There.
At the moment, I have only done the suspension and 40mm lift kit. Cant find any recent photos unfortunately.
Besides that all pretty standard at the moment but have some plans for upgrading for the next trip.
Priority however is to get the power steering sorted.
Some issues there to sort out but will get some advice later.

Planning a big trip across to Namibia in August this year so need to start sorting her out.

What engine do you have?
It this 80 the sahara version with rear a/c and fridge console?

Hi Bear.
It is the 4.2 Diesel with no turbo, 6 cyl.
A bit underpowered and I considered a turbo kit but due to the 300k on the clock I decided against it.

This was the series of 80 sent out to the UN forces in East Africa. No Frills. Even the AC was a retro fit and is also giving me some trouble!

Must admit, it is a bit of a "one of a kind" specs and I am actually battling to get info on the set up.
Has H and L gear box but no H2. Has an H4 button on the dash (that doesn't seem to do much) and manual lock/free hubs on the front wheels.
Still trying to figure out the center diff set up.
