FNG here. I just bought my first 100 series. Just wanted to say thank you to the ones who replied to this thread and guided me and helped me make the right choice. Much appreciated and I must say this forum is fantastic so far. Haven't been able to post anything because any questions I can think of have already been answered.

owner supplied maintenance documentation? where did it live it's previous life (salt belt?)?

The rear main seal leak at 190 K is unheard of on a toyota. It could be a leaky valve cover gasket: Both the oi pan and rear seal may be due to that.

$3000 for an oil pan reseal? Rear main seal fix $1500? I got the entire trans rebuilt with rear main seal at 250K miles (no leak at 250K miles: just got it replaced since the trans was off) for $3800. Have you checked a local toyota shop?
