Hello hello! New member here from Simi Valley, California! Picked up (or rather, it's getting dropped off) a '64 FJ45 SWB from Oregon. Been sitting for a few years, but it's in good shape with no rust. Looking forward to becoming a part of the community! First steps are to install seat belts, find a spare tire mount for the back, and fab up some wood stake-sides!

Welcome, the madness has begun....

Welcome, she's a creampuff.

Well, she arrived the other night, but I couldn't get her started as she had been sitting for a long time. Battery was good, and she would turn over, but sounds really rough and wouldn't stay running at all. Also, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor when we rolled it off the trailer, which was a surprise, but I was able to use the clutch and the e-brake to get her stopped.

Futzed around with the carb (sea foam and carb cleaner, plus some adjustments), put come clean fuel in the tank, and new plugs and she's running pretty decent now, although I can't drive her until I figure out the brake issue. She has a dual-circuit master cylinder, but the pedal goes all the way to the floor without any engagement. I'm gonna try and bleed the lines and master cylinder tomorrow. Anyways, gave her a bath and here she sits! Glad to have her in Southern California, and glad to be a newcomer in this community!

Congratulations on getting it home, still have the f135 and 3 on the tree?, it's a 1963 not a 64 model having a ribbed roof and the 6 outward ribs on the back of the cab instead of what a 1964 would have being 4 wide indented ribs and smooth roof, please keep more pictures coming as work proceeds.

Yes, still the f engine but not the original one, and the 3 speed is still in there, but the shifter has been relocated to the floor. She's titled as a 64, maybe that's one of those deals where registration wasn't done until 1964. Anyone out there know where I can locate the rear swing out tire carrier? It's got the holes for it on the rear, would love to find one.

Beautiful Rig! Nice house and the 3 Bay garage ain't bad either!! Just spotted the old fire extinguisher by the door. F/F?

Yes, 15 years with the LAFD. Love a 3 car garage, but it's full already! FJ must live outside!

Stay safe brother. Just checked out the Cal Fire map. Looks like your surrounded out there. My sisters old neighborhood was leveled in the Napa/Santa Rosa Fire. They moved back east a few years ago but said it was the most beautiful place she had lived.

My hats off to you guys!

BTW, FDNY, 28 years, retired LT.

Once again, Stay safe and we'll talk 45's soon!

Welcome DC. That’s a great looking rig. Lots of care put into that. I too am new to the 45 world, also looking for a tire rack in the near future. I need to essentially rebuild my bed, and I like the possibility of mounting a spare like yours for a number of reasons. Can you provide a snapshot of that install in the bed? Thanks. Paul

The VIN tag will have the manufacturing date on it, I’m curious about the full-length rib on the doors (vs ending before the handle). Do you have a centered or offset rear diff? I wonder how the stakesides are retained in the bedside for that dealer-option?

Th full length rib I think was added when the change from the early above door catch to the later below centre door catch happened around the end of 1962 or start of 63?

Super nice rig! DC, ya beat me to it on BringATrailer.com, so congratulations on your score

Wow, the neighbor needs 11 trashcans?

Thanks everyone. Busy busy week. Will add more info and input when I get home.
