Happy to be the new owner of a '96 lx450, that seems to have been pampered. One owner and serviced at the dealer. Drove it 1000+ miles and loved the way it felt. I will keep this thing forever.... but I guess I said that about my '78 fj40 I just sold. Future mods.... too many to list.... and am glad to have you bunch for inspiration.

BTW- Anyone in the tri-state area or VA about to do/ want to help with a birf job???? I would like to do this before I drive this truck to AZ but if not I will wait till then.

Pics soon...

Congrats on the rig! :D

get a pic up before the pic whores start beating down your door.

Congratulations, sounds like a real winner! Are doing the birf job as PM or is it needed?

Congratulation!!! PICTURE PICTURE!!!

Pics are coming...

I will have one up tomorrow. Thanks for the welcome gents!!! I am doing the birf because from what I read it is needed. It has 93K right now. and has had all scheduled maintenance from the dealer, but of course not the birf. I just switched over the motor oil to mobil 1 10w-30 and plan to do the all the others as soon as I can find a place to do it in NYC. What a PITA. I can't wait to get this rig back to AZ.

Congrats on your purchase. It will provide a nice ride across the country.

You know what, this thread is useless without pictures! Congrats anyway. I'm in VA, would you like to get the birf done? Are they leaking? Do you have lockers?

Birf and yes the pics will be up this afternoon...

If you are in VA. Sure ! I was going to take a trip down there around the first of Sept. I have the factory lockers and they work :D . I will check for leaks and drain the diff to check if there are issues later today. Also going to be taking the pics. What did you guys do to take care of the holes for the rear "fin" that I just removed.

The pics.

I didn't take these. Its just difficult to do any kind of work on my truck or even get to it sometimes (to take pics). Living in NYC sucks for people who like to tinker on their trucks... Anyway here they are...

and my future mods

Depends on when and where. I'm in NJ.

Thanks

Cdan- Thanks! I saw this last night and tried clipping it in but it wouldn't stay. I will take a look at it again during the day to see if there was something missing or if that bracket was slightly bent.

Junk- I am in NYC and would be willing to drive. Let me preface this by saying I don't have a place to do this myself so would be looking for someone to provide a place and expertise. I bought the DVD and have been reading up some but I am sure there will be questions. I would be willing to provide, beers, lunch, dinner or whatever else. If you can't do it no problem I can probably wait until I drive it back to AZ where I will have all my tools and stuff in late Sept. If you have some spare time and are willing let me know. Or if you are doing your own soon I would be happy to assist for the knowledge. If not, no worries....

thanks

chris
