New HID bulbs and now a weird light pattern?

I have no idea why you're coming at me, I was asked a question, I replied. You don't have to like it. And I don't have to prove anything to anyone, that includes you.
Well this is a reputable forum and we do like to have correct information on here. So when you make claims that others deem incorrect, it’s usually best to work towards the proper answer by both sides prividing legit facts. Not just saying something is “not true” with no supporting evidence. We enjoy your input here Spike, so don’t think we don’t, we just want to make sure everyone receives the proper info.

Guess it all comes down to personal opinion. LEDs in a projector didn’t work for me but I guess it does for some.
It is mostly personal preference. In the end, people will run what they want based on their own opinion of the matter. I think your real issue here is that the factory projectors just plain SUCK, regardless of what bulb you run in them.

Check out the link I posted above and review the proper upgrade options. While they are expensive, it is well worth the investment IMO and there are multiple levels of upgrades.

I understand that. There are many options for better lighting, the LED's that I bought work great in cars that I have installed them in.
I am not trying to be arumentive, but a blanket "they don't work" is not true, they do work. And just like anything, and I mean anything, your results may vary.

As for the Dodge truck, there is a special wire harness needed to make the LED's work with certain Dodge/Chrysler vehicles. I have no idea if the guy with the pick-up used that, what brand bulb he used, we have no info other than whatever he bought didn't work.
But what I am telling you is that the OPT-7 bulbs have worked great in my Discovery, my Corolla, may Land Cruiser, my wifes Sedona with projector headlights, my father's Civic and my mothers Escape.

It was my truck. I think you’re talking about the anti-flicker harness Chrysler’s need. I had everything I needed to make the LEDs work, and they did. Just wasn’t an improvement over the factory bulb in that particular vehicle.

And that is a fair and legitimate complaint.

Here's a picture of the squirrel holes in the LX projector that are producing those light spots above the cutoff. Those spots along with a lack of a crisp cutoff and wanting better light output placed me on the path to build the bracket. I'm also doing complete retrofits into brand new OEM housing for who would rather pay to have them done. I did the same with my first set in my 80

The D2S s are absolutely awesome. I've had lots of new cars and none of them come close.

To the OP, yeah HID's without a new projector suck. I did it and just removed the HID's after a few weeks. The squirrel finders are terrible, unless you like your lights shining up in trees. I have LED bulbs in my wife's GMC, but I don't think there are any good options for LED bulbs for the H1's that come in LX470's.

To anyone that might find this via search, an HID bulb, even a high quality one, will suck with the stock halogen projectors. Just don't do it. Save your money for a retrofit.

If you have a quality HID kit already, get the H1 projector bracket from @Luke111 and a set of projectors from theretrofitsource and have a killer setup without much work. The pic I posted earlier was with that setup in my old 2500HD and I have the same setup in the current LX.

BTW, I have a set of NIB TSX-R lenses and the spacers to upgrade the factory projectors instead of swapping the projectors for the morimoto miniH1 projectors if anyone wants them. I bought the parts before Luke make his brackets and just went with a full projector upgrade instead. Just pay shipping.

Here's a good video showing the differences of the halogen, LED, and HID bulbs with measurements of the lumens at 25 ft.

That will be my next step. I will rock the stock headlights for now, need to do more research and get more comfortable with the doing the actual retrofit before deciding to tackle it. Taking apart the headlights seems involved.
