new Gamiviti rack for your 120...

I do love the way it looks. For me wind noise is a issue I would want to avoid. Baja Rack has also come out with a GX470 rack and it has a built in wind deflector. Baja claims they designed this new rack from the ground up for the GX470 and the full length rack has very little wind noise.

My wish list: 1) I would like to have front light tabs available integrated in along with a built in wind deflector. This is so I would not have to pick between wind noise and roof lighting. I would prefer tabs for smaller lights rather that a large LED light bar. 2) I would also like side and rear light tabs for alley and reverse lighting. 3) Shovel and high lift attachments would be a must. 4) Also, Another feature I would like is either a full grate bottom or the bars spaced closer together to allow for placement of smaller items on the rack that seemingly would fall through this rack and onto the roof.

I am actually planning purchasing a rack in the very near future and am excited to see this Gamiviti offering; and would strongly consider this GREAT looking rack with the above features.

I think Gamiviti will put light mounting tabs where ever you want them, as long as you know what you want. He also has grating he can install on the bottom or add more bars or both AFIK. He does for the 100 series racks for sure. Gamiviti Roof Racks

I was very concerned with wind noise too but knew there would be some with any rack. Turns out that even with no fairing and no light bar, it wasn't as bad as expected. It was like a loud set of tires I guess. Once I installed the light bar the majority of the wind noise went away. The fairing on is a little better than just the light bar but I primarily have it on to protect the light bar. I am working on making a clear fairing so that I get the best of both worlds. I hope to have it on in a week or two, if the piece of Lexan my buddy brings me is in decent shape.

Hey thanks for posting up Frank and your truck & rack is looking just killer man. Appreciate you posting up the info.

Tahoe we could make exactly want you want sir- send me an email and we'll draw it up. I am about 2 weeks away from a new rack for myself, which will include a couple other new options also, will post up when complete.

Thanks for your first hand knowledge explanation of the wind noise in different configurations.

That sounds great! I am waiting on my insurance to pay off my totaled 80 and will be ready to pull the trigger then. Thanks for explaining that you can make tailor the build to my needs!!
By the way, what is the height of the rack measured off the roof or compared to the OEM rack?

Do you have a GX or a 4Runner? The heights should be similar but I assume they won't measure up exactly the same. I didn't measure my OEM rack height off the roof so if you or someone else wants to provide that, I can get a measurement of the Gamiviti. The Gamiviti has 4 different height positions and I have mine in the 2nd lowest position. I am guessing that it is lower than the stock rack in the current position.

I have the GX470. Height adjustable sounds really good.

I am so excited about the GX rack from you guys. I have seen a few around town and am always impressed. When I ask the owners who made the rack, it is always Gamiviti that has caught my eye. Well done. I second the previous poster that sending the usable rack area all the way to the back since there is a barn door on this beast is great. In measuring for a RTT recently I realized how very much I wish that I could extend the roof rack just a hair over the rear door to allow more cargo space once the RTT is on. It doesn't leave much roof real estate in any other configuration. How far back is your current rack configuration going (what does the rack line up with in the rear?) Is it possible to get a dual row light bar on these racks with the expo down option? Not sure I will need that much light, but it gets dark and nasty out here in Oregon, and a ton of light could really help if I am doing rescue work at all.

I was also curious what shipping usually costs, and also what the lead time is for one? I plan to buy this fall, so I am mapping out all the purchases and timelines now. Thanks again Tim for the great product, and for your kind words about my own build a few months back.

Drove over to Silverton to meet-up with Nakman while in town for the Hundred in the Hills to pickup the rack. Thanks Tim for transporting it and helping with the install in the rain.

On they way back to Durango stopped off at Little Molas Lake to take some photos for this thread.

Hey 120folk, after more than half a year topless, finally have another rack on the GX470. we have been working on a couple new features also so used this rack to show them off.. the first is we're now doing a "tapered" Expo bar as an option, since every 100, 120, 150, and 200 is running their rack Expo down, and rightfully so, we've started to add some style points to the rack to compliment the slope of the roof above the front doors. This also provides the same wider gap in front for a light bar behind the fairing, and since it's pretty easy to do we're able to offer ithat without the extra cost of the more traditional light bar drop-down. Pretty slick, eh? this is for all racks, not just GX 470, but since we're in 120land we will stay focused there.

So the second thing that is GX-specific is I put some light tabs above the slots in the big wing in back. I haven't wired up the lights yet, but the idea is that the light will shoot out between the door and spoiler. not sure if anyone else has tried that yet, but I'm gonna.. will post up the results when I get it wired up, hopefully in the next couple weeks- trying to scramble to keep life in order while I get this truck ready for Cruise Moab. Anyone else from here going? I'll be there..

My only other mod for this rack is a solar panel, which is on order. I already have the charge controller and everything else ready to go, just need to figure out where to run the wires. Here are some pics of the new rack for your viewing pleasure, thanks for the comments.
