Can someone please post a clear picture of the accel mechanical linkage to a trollhole carb? I coming from a weber and the PO hacked the linkage. IDK what stays and goes and what i need to buy. Thanks!!

I'm assuming this is a 40? What year?

Carbs came in Friday. As of 30 min ago they are all shipped except for the person that ordered this weekend.

I'm out again and the line is already forming. Should be 4 weeks before the next batch is in.

wow. duh. sorry. its a jan 78 fj40, so more like a 77 if that matters. thanks marshall!! the tracking info this morning. cant wait to get it installed.

Getting in line (payment sent) for an FJ60 2F carb. Guess now I will read this thread. LOL

Do I need to buy any gaskets and stuff while I'm waiting?

still looking for pics of the accel linkage to the trollhole. also, do i need to have the choke cable hooked up or doesnt it have an electric one? please help. thanks.

Here is one picture that I have that might help to compare the two carbs. Mine is from an '85 2F, so not sure of the differences with your 40. Obviously OEM on the left - Trollhole on the right.

The choke is cable operated and, so far, over the summer I haven't needed it.

Also, I sent you a PM to send more pics to your email.

I received my new carb the other day and sourced an insulator from Classic Cruisers http://www.classiccruisers.com/.

I have 1974 CA Model F.5 with a Holley.

Looks like I have a few issues to work out to get the carb installed. From what I can tell, the connection on the factory carb insulator is for the PCV but the shaft on the carb conflicts with it.

Has anyone come up with a solution that does not involve trimming the carb shaft?

My Holley carb has a rubber fuel line where the Trollhole needs a metal line with a fitting on the end.

Is the best solution here to find an original fuel line and bend it to match up to the Trollhole fuel inlet? Are there are approaches that work better?

See attached picture of my current setup. Don't laugh too hard at the throttle return spring installed by the previous owner. I fixed that shortly after I bought the truck.

Any install pictures would be appreciated.

Trim the shaft. Trust me it's the best way.

You can buy the nut and olive from toyota for the inlet to the carb. Then use a piece of 5/16 fuel line and clamp your rubber line onto the outlet.

Nut Part # 90402-13041

Olive Part # 96395-71400

I'm about half way through the install of an F carb on my 1974 CA Model F.5 and I wanted to point out a few things that folks should be prepared for when converting from a Holley setup to the Trollhole.

1. It's well covered on this thread but you need to order a stock carb insulator with a top and bottom gasket.
2. You'll need a new throttle cable. The previous owner converted my throttle linkage to cable setup but the Holley throttle pulls straight back towards the fire wall and does not have a threaded end on the cable housing. I ordered one from SOR, part # 042-04B-EC .
3. The stock choke cable works fine.
4. I needed to purchase a new PCV hose since the Holley used a smaller line than the 7/16" one that comes off of the carb insulator.
5. You'll have to trim the carb shaft because it fouls with the PCV fitting on the insulator.
6. You can remove the studs from the intake manifold adapter that attaches the Holley and reuse them to connect the carb to the manifold.
7. I was able to locate the original wire for the idle circuit poking through the firewall above the valve cover. 12V when switched to ON.
8. My Holley was fed with a rubber fuel line so I had to convert back to steel. I went ahead and ordered a used factory fuel line from SOR 028-13D-U .
8. I have not solved the air cleaner yet:

The Holley carb has a 5 1/4" flange diameter so my Spectre air cleaner doesn't work with the 3 1/16" Trollhole carb. A stock air cleaner is expensive so I ordered an adapter to fit the larger air cleaner to the smaller carb. That makes the setup too tall and the hood hits the air cleaner. I've looked into K&N and similar universal 2" tall x 7" diameter air cleaners but the stud on the trollhole is offset to one side. It's not centered on the air cleaner like some carbs.

Has anyone had success ordering an affordable air cleaner that fits onto the F carb?

sent payment for 2f (85 fj60). Any eta? thanks mb

End of Oct. For some reason the whole country likes to take holidays for weeks on end.

Hey Trollhole,

I purchased a new carb from you for my 79 Fj40 with 2f motor and there are some differences on the carbs.

There is no diaphram on the new carb and there is some linkage differences as well.

Also there looks as if there is a tube or hose deleted on your carb verses Toyota factory carb.

Does this bolt right up or are there some modifications I need to make to your carb before I install.

Here's a couple pictures

Thanks,

Travis

The tube can either be tapped into the air filter housing or what I do is just cap it at the firewall. Works just fine in the dozens I've done.

The vac module in the back is the choke breaker. You don't need it for my setup. Think simple. More stuff you add means more stuff that can break. My carb is about as simple as possible without sacrificing performance or economy.

payment sent for a 2F carb for my 1978 Fj55 with mechanical linkage with normal jets. I live at sea level. ;)
