Sorry Steve. Was on vacation for a few days. I'm back in the shop now.

Dizzy is 150 shipped. Coil needs to be a non ballast resisted coil. I like these myself.

No not that I'm aware. I have over a thousand carbs out there with no return line.

Ok, I changed out all the vacuum hoses last night and tried to drive it today. Same result. It died as soon as I put a load in it and had major hesitation when I touched the throttle. Yesterday, I had advanced the timing a little, but with no timing marks on my engine, I had to guess and just listened to the idle. Today, I set it back to where it was and am able to drive it with the choke closed about half way. At least it's drivable again, and this is encouraging as the fix may be similar to those who had similar problems before. Sorry for the book, but if anyone can shed some light on the fix, I'd appreciate it.

Put a paperclip on the secondary vac rod. Right up against the base of the vac housing. Go drive and tell me if it's moving. It won't move with revving the engine in the driveway. Needs a load.

If I can't get you figured out I'll send you another carb out of the next shipment coming in.

Like this. Don't need much pressure on the rod. A smaller paper clip would be best.

You know, it's funny. As chief engineer on a multi-billion dollar warship that puts out millions if ft-lbs of torque and hundreds of thousands of shaft horsepower from 4 gas turbine main engines and having spent 20 years in the engine rooms of three different types of propulsion plants, I can't get my head wrapped around the workings of a stinking carbeurator. I feel like an idiot...

I put the paper lip on the secondary diaphragm, and it did move.

I adjusted the throttle cable collar raising the idle speed, but I think it was too much. I'm using the weber throttle with a hose clamp securing it in the carb bracket but have a Toyota cable enroute from SOR. I'll attempt to properly set the idle once I have the correct cable. With this setup, however, and the choke flap completely open, I get backfiring through the carb when accelerating under load. It's running lean...

I'll try to open up the carb and check for blockage on the accelerator pump as we discussed on the phone yesterday.

Carb and dizzy for stock 76 full California smog

What is your current availability for a carb and dizzy for a 76? Despite that it is driven in South Carolina, I have maintained all the California smog gear. Does this create any issues?
 
Just stumbled across this today. For my 1970 F non-USA Cruiser down here in Ecuador I have the Aisin 1 barrel carb. I bought a 2 barrel intake on Ebay and had it sent to Seattle along with a new Man-A-Fre header for ceramic coating. I will pick them up in October when I travel for my daughters wedding. So of course I have been looking for a carburetor. My mechanic prefers the Aisin over a Weber, but I'm not sure why and there is a language barrier:) Regardless I was looking at the Weber 32/36 with the one piece lower spacer and the adapter for the stock air cleaner. It sounds like with your carburetor I don't need to worry about anything other than the lower spacer which is probably different. Since I live at 8,000 ft my question is with regards to jetting, availability of parts, are there other manufacturers jets who fit, etc. I took advantage of the offer MAF had of a new aftermarket distributor along with the header. Even if I upgrade to a 2F motor later this year I would still stick with simplicity.

I've sold every carb in this next batch. Should have another shipment due in the 1st-2nd week in july.

Yes it does. It won't work with your smog equipment. If you want to keep your smog stuff I'd suggest letting Jim C or Marks Offroad rebuild it for you.

It comes with the high altitude jets as spares so swapping to them is no problem. Uses stock toyota jets for and 2f land cruiser. Basically any 79-84 fj40-fj60 carb kit can rebuild my carb.
