Finally got my throttle cable from SOR. Went to hook it up but cant figure out how it goes together.

I read Im supposed to cut the lead barrel off the end and attach to the lokar end on the carb. Well that end is threaded, and I dont see where you secure the cable to the lokar part??? Just looks like im sticking a cable into a larger hole with no attach points... I must be missing something.

Great carb btw...

Do you still rebuild 79 fj40 carbs? If so how much

Ok here's some pics. As you can see the thing that I'm suppose to stick my cable into seems wrong.

Am I missing a piece that maybe threads into that hole?

Yeah. PM me your address and I'll send you the correct adapter. I don't know what I was smoking when I sent that to you.

Got my carb Friday the 14th, awesome. Started installing it today, just gotta get some longer manifold studs and maybe figure out how to hook up the fuel line. The hard lines have been replaced with rubber by po so im not really sure what I need to go with hard lines?

Let me know how you work it out. I'm expecting a carb from Troll Hole on Monday and will have the same situation. My fj is a mutt with prior owners each adding a flavor of "fixit".

Yep will do, I went to autozone for carb studs today and they didn't have anything long enough. I'm guessing napa will have those and maybe some type of threaded male end with a hose berg on the end to screw into the carb to attach a rubber line to. The other problem I have is figuring out how to hook up the mechanical type linkage.

Marshall, I just got my carb and it looks great. I was wondering where I might find some good pictures of how the mechanical throttle linkage hooks up. The p.o. left the choke cable in the firewall so that should be no problem but out of the 3 manuals I have, none of them show any good diagrams. I can't wait to get this thing on and running. Thanks, Bryan

As far as hooking up a fuel line from rubber to my carb. Use a piece of hard line from the carb with a compression nut (from Toyota). And a ferrule. Then just slip the line over and use a couple hose clamps.

I'd just like to report that my Trollhole (with standard 'sea level' jets) performed great almost all the way up to 6k feet yesterday. No noticeable loss of power until I was trying to get up a really steep hill of loose rocks, right up at 6k, where I'm pretty sure I was having problems with the float from the slope. I'm sure it would have been much worse with a Weber or anything else that isn't based on the Aisin carb.

So, if you're not going from sea level to 6k and back regularly in single-day wheeling trips, I can't imagine the lack of HAC being a problem...which is what Marshall has been saying all along, but I think it's good to have some 'user' feedback which agrees.

Thanks Marshall. Received carb last week and did the final install Friday night. Did a trial install just after receiving - my manifold studs too short to i made some longer ones, had to adjust for the PCV connection in the insulator/spacer, and I took the gas fitting from the carb to a local high pressure hose company and they cut it and brazed on a fuel line bib so my rubber fuel line will snug up nicely ($30 and they did it in an hour). Friday's install then took no time at all and she fired right up. Been driving it all weekend, (plug and play - nice). Idles great but has some retarded (a dip) power when accelerating, going to re-check timing and points gap, but wondering if it could a needed carb adjustment (rich or thin)? If, so what would I adjust?
