New F & 2F carbs (3 Viewers)

So I have a 9/72 F motor with the original carb. The accel linkage is cable from the pedal to the base of the carb where it attaches to a bell crank that moves a rod on the carb to open the throttle. The pictures make more sense than I do. So a couple of questions:
1. Do you have a set up that will work with this?

2. Also, is the air intake at the top of the carb the same diameter (F vs. 2F)? Mine doesn't have the bolt down the center to hold the stock air cleaner in place, just a clamp on the outside.

3. Lastly, my fuel inlet is on the valve cover side of the carb, would I have move the line around to the front?

I'm really hoping this works, new carb and dizzy would be nice.
Thanks, Dave.

The more I look at this linkage I think it would work with very little modifications.

Marshall,

Your the man! My 77 runs so good it's scary and I don't even have it all the way back together. All the smog crap is gone and she purrs like a tractor just like she should. I'll be ordering a second when the time comes around. Pics and story when I get to a real computer.

Just sent a payment for a FJ40/55 carb.

Thanks for putting together what seems to be an amazing carb. upgrade.

air cleaner

I wanted to know a few things about the air cleaner for this Carb mod...

Does this mod retain the factory air cleaner for my fj 60?

I like my stock air cleaner, with that being said it is increasingly more difficult to find a filter for it... special order for an air filter are u kidding me it says parts store on the door...
LOL

Is there an after market air cleaner for the carb mod?

PN please

Also I live @ 8,500' asl and majority of my Wheelin goes up in elevation from there... I read somewhere that this mod comes w/high altitude jets...

Are the jets adequate for my altitude? Or do I need to rejet and to what size

Yes for FJ60's and late 75-84 FJ40's it retains the air cleaner without any mods.

As far as aftermarket. I'd only suggest doing that if you have exhausted every possible option. The stock air cleaner is damn fine and almost bulletproof. If you are having trouble finding them. Look here. If you buy $65 worth of stuff the shipping is free. There are lots of things on this site you can buy for your cruiser at crazy prices. There is I'm pretty sure someone just did this in the 60 section.

The carb comes standard with the low altitude jets installed. When you buy mine and you need the hi Altitude jets say 5500 ft and above. Then put it in the notes of the paypal transaction. WHen I see that I'll take the jets out and swap them with the high Alt jets that reside behind every single carb bowl drain bolt on the carbs I sell. This way if you ever go to low alt and want to swap they will be there.

Is there a special place you put the regular jets I never found them with my carb that I ordered with the high alt jets.

Okay. When did you order the carb. Did you tell me it need to be high ALT? If you told me it was for High Alt then most likely I changed the jets out already. On all my carbs done this year if you look under the bowl you will see a rivet. I've been painting this rivet red on all high alt carbs.

If not then the two bolts that reside under the sight glass have the high alt jets mounted behind them. Just unscrew one replace the jet then do the other. Don't mix the jets up. Use a screwdriver that fits the jets snugly.

I did order high alt just wondering if you supply the reg jets. I've had the carb for 3 weeks I'll check to see if it's red tonight. Thanks.

This may be a stupid question but can they stay there until I need them or do the need to be removed

Hey Marshall:) What is the wait time on a carb purchased now?

thanks,
john

Hello Trollhole-Just took delivery of my new carb for my 1970 40. What is a recommended gasket for installation? Suggestions? Thanks

Sweet! I'll take one. Now... I just need to know which one to buy. I have a 73 land cruiser with a 2F engine in it. It has a cable for the choke. I have a cable for the accelerator, but it connects to some linkages, so I wasn't sure which model I should get. I will include some pictures of my old carb. Do your carbs come with a spot to put the fuel shut-off solenoid? Do I need it still? Please let me know if you need any more pictures and what carb I should purchase. ***Note*** I have the same throttle cable and linkage as the carb posted in post #501.

Thanks,
john
