okay guys and gals, im new to the forum here and just would like to say thank you all for your time and effort to make this a great learning tool for us cruiser fans. As for me im new to the game, but have wanted "in" for many years. things started off slow, when I was still in high school and my childhood neigbor had a 1972 fj40 sitting in his back yard. well that was 10 years ago. after pestering him at least 7 times a year to sell it, he finally caved, and the cruiser is mine for a pultry $80!!! While it is 99 percent complete I am still in need os some parts and or advice. The truck runs good...enough for now but its kinda rigged up so to speak. lets just say it isnt the most reliable cruiser on the planet. this brings to to my question. The cruiser is fitted with a Aisin carb, of later vintage, around 1986 from what I can see. It looks factory but is plagued with many vacuum lines, ports, and connectors most of which have no home. my question (s) are simple. what I need to know is whether or not I can use this carb and just cap off the exisiting "unused vacuum lines and go about my day, or if I need to get the correct vintage carb (early 70's) Id prefer to stick with a stock carb as I hear good things about them. Also,is there any place where I can get stock Aisin carb parts (ie the stock throttle cable bracket) as mine seems to be cobbled. I appreciate any and all help. I hate to post another carb thread as I have read many, but none pertained to my situation. thanks all.
