It's not off by that much, it's more like 3-4 mph off at 60-70
72 indicated, 77 actual per the Nevada State Police. :bang::doh:

The trooper advised me my speed was due to difference between my tires and oem tires. My .45 was on the passenger seat, so discussion turned to a 15 minute conversation comparing my weapon to his.

He told me to stay safe.

No ticket. ;)

Lucky break.....

Might be time to consider one of these:

Large tires are great at keeping your odometer mileage low.... but it might not be worth the speeding ticket next time around! LOL

Greg...the deal was completely my fault...no excuses here. I'd left Boise to meet my son in Winnemucca and pick up a dirt bike...heavy snow was predicted later that evening from Winnemucca all the way up to Boise...I was trying to make Boise before nightfall. No excuses.

I knew the speedo error the day after I had the tires installed 3-4 years ago...ran the truck with the cruise control from 30 to 80 mph with a Garman gps.

I simply ran into a trooper who was having a very good day. I did slow down from the stop to Winnemucca and all the way home. The same trooper flashed his highbeams and waved to me on the way back. Normally I keep with the flow of traffic...but there's virtually no traffic on US95 on weekdays.

To answer the question about noise, the ko2s are very quiet for at tires. The only extra noise I hear is from the engine since the transmission is a little slower to shift during acceleration. But at 313000 miles and with a k&n cold air intake my rig is a little louder than most.

Going from stock size p rated tires to the 10ply 33 inch bfgd has been better then expected. The bfgs are a little higher, louder, and firmer, and have a little more wandering on the highway compared to the ltx tires. However, the truck corners much flatter, and has much better performance on ice, packed snow and deep snow.

I haven't been off road yet, but stone retention isn't bad on gravel.

The tread definitely looks better/more aggressive in person than in some photos.

The duratracs have good reviews, but Canadian tire stores rate the ko2 higher for winter and wet conditions. The duratracs have more void space, so they're probably less likely to hydroplane, but they get really poor wet grip scores in Europe. The older BFG KO rated A, nokian rotiiva and cooper at3 (LT spec) are rated B, and the duratracs are I think a G, which is the lowest score given.

If the test rated the old BFG AT as an A and the Nokian a B, I wouldn't trust anything they say. I've owned the old BFG AT and while it was decent when it was literally brand new, after about 3,000 miles it got worse and worse and worse in the snow until 20,000 miles when I just had to change to a different tire because it didn't feel safe. I've also had the Duratracs since new which have been some of the best snow tires I've ever used short of a true dedicated snow tire. I would be highly interested in seeing that test's methods and findings since it's contradictory to the vast majority of anything I've ever read about those tires.

Agreed - I'm on my second set of Duratracs because of their performance on the snow and ice. My BFGs were horrible after they started to wear out. No comparison.

285/75/16 KO2s! Just got them on. Stock with AHCs. This is my first luxury vehicle, so I love the ride. I don't hear noises from tires, just rattling from loose and rusted exhaust couplers. I'm a cop and I drive 15+ over the speed limit, so I guess I better drive slower. I don't want to get suspended for Reckless Driving. Lol! That's if I'm understanding speedo is 5 over.

Police shoes must be heavy, the police around here always trick me into think I'm getting pulled over but they just want me to get out of the way. The speedo is about 5 mph off (above 50mph) in my 100 since going to 285/75/16. I told the wife she can just go the speed limit now and she'll still be speeding, so she's happy with the mod.

I know where all the speed traps are in my area, but the rule is 5 to 10 over you wont get pulled over. 20 over grab your ankles. So 5 mph off. Thanks. I will keep that in serious note.

Pretty accurate.

"9 you're fine, 10 you're mine", a good rule to live by!

Pretty accurate, all my tickets have been for 15+ over except for one in a small town and one in an all day school zone that didn't have a blinking light. It costs more to drive fast (tickets, gas, insurance, accidents), so I take it easy these days.
I think we are getting off topic, but I got a Toyota LC/LX cause im having a child. I don't need my vehicle to go fast. I just need it to work and it's the last project vehicle I will have. Blame that on the wife! Be careful of your speed limit and don't ever speed near schools!

That how I landed in a 100, happy I did. Big and safe and I can keep it forever. Never my intent to speed near schools, I hadn't heard of a school zone without a blinking light at that point in my life. I'm the old man shaking my fist at speeders on my street.

Back in topic, let's hear about those KO's and how they are performing for everyone. I looked at these pretty hard before I bought Toyo AT2. Both seem like good tires. I didn't go with BFG, the on-road/off-road reviews and the mileage claim from Toyo pushed me the other way.

How are the new BFGs in snow, ice and other inclement weather?

You could say about 7-8% high...difference between speedo and actual speed increase the faster you drive. Stick a gps on it and see what you get.

As to school zones...I drive 5 under as you'll never know what kids will do.

I love my BFG for the snow and ice etc; now the tires get you going but nothing stops you on ice unless they have studs!) a lot depends on the actual snow; if its the wet stuff the tread gets clogged up and they are basically slicks. saving up for the new KO to go on. Tires for guys are like women some like blondes some like brunettes lol

That's how I figured about 5 mph. Seems to creep up to about 6 over 70 mph.... So only real concern is above 50mph, 5-6mph off.

Get a blue tooth OBD II and Torque app for your phone and you can keep accurate tabs all the time along with MPG and many other sensors on your rig.
