Took the LX out to wheelers pass in NV, good trail with a little of everything from big loose rocks to sand and mud. The peak is a little under 8000 ft. Tires did great on every terrain. Lowered them down to 25psi

Couple of thoughts, as I just got this exact tire (285/75R16 KO2):

1) Ride quality. I was quite concerned about this going in as these are only available in a load range E. Last time I went with a BFG AT in a load range E, it really killed the ride quality of my half-ton pickup. A few things are different here though. With my pickup, I was at the factory tire size (265/75R16). That size required 50 psi to hold the same load as the p-metric factory tires and it was a 32" tire. These only require 40 psi to hold the same load as the p-metric factory tires and are taller. Obviously the suspensions are a bit different as well, but overall I am quite pleased with the ride quality. I am NOT someone who likes a rough ride (and personally think anyone who likes a rough ride is certifiable). These are a little "bouncier"...you'll feel them more with the normal imperfections in the roadway. But expansion joints, railroad tracks, cracks in the pavement, manhole covers, etc are actually less jarring than the factory tires. Overall, I'd say it is similar to bumping up the AHC to sport 1 and maybe sport 2.

2) Noise. I wasn't too awful concerned with this based on my previous experience with KOs. These can be heard if you're listening, but right now I'd put their noise level on par with my worn factory Michelins. I'd expect new Michelins to be quieter, and I expect these to get louder over time. Overall I think they are quiet tires, but if it concerns you, I think a roll of dynamat would quiet them down to factory levels.

3) Snow/ice grip. We just got hit with both this weekend and I had a chance to put them through some rough stuff. First, Friday night I was making my way 100 miles northeast to my parent's house for the weekend. We were getting hammered pretty hard with sleet the entire trip up, including a few spots where the ice fully covered the roads. My wipers had to stay running with the defroster on to keep from icing over. I had to try pretty darn hard to get these things to break loose - stopping or accelerating. No issues at all. Granted, I don't push the limits when driving in these conditions, but to never once have the thing step out of line is pretty impressive given the conditions. Overnight on Friday, about 6 inches of VERY wet snow fell. By the time I got up the next morning, most of the roads were plowed. But I headed out a few less traveled roads and managed to find some that hadn't been touched. To put simply: I never needed the diff-lock. One of the areas I went up was a 30% grade (low end of the estimates I've seen) that runs about 1/5th of a mile to a scenic overlook area. Hadn't been plowed and I was honestly surprised it was open given the extreme grade. Made it up without any issue and coming back down, I dropped it into 4-lo (still no diff-lock) and let it crawl back down. No sliding at all. My parents house is also on a hill with a short section of the driveway that is fairly steep - no issues getting up or down that all weekend. NOTE: I can only compare these to the factory tires and other tires I've had on other vehicles - I've never owned a true winter tire, so please keep that in mind when I say these are excellent in the snow/ice: I'm comparing to other all seasons and all terrains.

4) Looks. Pictures do not do these any justice at all. They look to be extremely aggressive when looking at the sidewall. The tread itself, however, is similar to the KO, with slightly larger voids (and I do mean slightly). They still are not a mud tire. Neighbor in my apartment complex has a Jeep with Duratracs on it. Personally, I think the KO2's look more aggressive from the side. But the Duratracs ARE more aggressive with the actual tread.

Overall, I am really happy with these so far.

Just went off-roading with my bfg ko2. I don't have much experience with different tires but they worked well. The tires did chunk a little bit. See picture. I noticed the tires got a bluish hue... Weird

Just got them on tonight and I love the ride!! Question, how much will the speedo be off going up from the stock 275? They were almost 2" taller when they stood them up to the old ones. Also what air pressure shd I run so they aren't over inflated? They tried 40 but I sd go to 32psi.View attachment 1000246View attachment 1000247View attachment 1000249
What year cruiser is that? Also were they a bunch taller than the options for K02's on the stock wheels. Concerned about not fitting in my garage. I have a rack that is within an inch of hitting the opening. Any rubbing when turning?

I had mine on this weekend too! It’s off 5% so I’m not going to worry about the mileage count haha!

How is the handling? Does the steering feel heavier and less nimble compared to running stock size tires? I have 265/75/R16 BFG KOs on my 2000 LX470. I'd love to go bigger but the truck handles so nicely now around town and on the highway, I'm a little leery.

Steers better and drives more stable bc the tires are wider and have a bigger foot print. Haven’t noticed and major mpg difference too! It doesn’t feel heavier at all.

Great! Thanks

I just bought a 99 lx. I have the chrome 16's like you. I am factory height with functioning AHC that lives in Neutral. I have my running boards on. At any point mentioned will the 285/75/16 KO2's rub without customization to fenders etc.
I have been told that 275 /70/16 is the size I need to avoid rub but your set up with 285/75 looks killer and I would love to follow in those footsteps.

Amy input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance
