Hey fellows. Had to pull the trigger on this one. What do you think? I am thinking two new fenders, some body work and then outside paint to match interior. The rest looks great for what I need.

Looks like a good deal & the price was right :D

hope you get it!

YUP..
Most people don't cover up good metal with diamond plate.
Expect a new tub to be in order, or at least mucho welding...
If its bolted on, just pull one back or look inside the wheel wells. Mainly rear 1/4.
Probably not enough to keep you from getting it, but enough to get the price down.

A little high? Damn, I thought it was pretty cheap considering the interior shape. Everything works and the diamond plate supposedly only covers a little rust. This is the best conditioned/best priced one I found in a three month search. Just looked at one two days ago that was spray painted orange over the original red. So, orange on the outside and red on the inside. WTF! He wanted 4500.00. Most of the ones I see around the 4k mark are very very rusted with very little original parts intact. No rust on frame on this one. Even has the original hub caps and wheels.

Thanks for the look and thoughts. My 100 is going to have some company now.

thanks for the link, i think i'll take it :)

Know of any good body men in the Central KY area?

Imop, the price don't seem that far out of line, as long as the desciption was truthful in the add.

no don't know any really good ones, although I do know a few.

I don't think the price is that bad. Mine was up there close and was missing some s***. At the time I didn't know as much about cruisers as I am a new addict. learning as I go, i would have looked longer before buying what I have.

Looks like a sweet project, I'd buy it, just ditch that @#$%^&*#$@ diamond tread.

Price seems reasonable for the condition of everything else, but all the diamond plate would make me nervous. Like someone else said, "people dont cover good metal with diamond plate". Rear quarters arent that hard to patch if youve got a decent welder. If its not gonna be your daily, I'd say buy it and beat it. First time you smash the fenders on a rock or tree, youre not gonna care about a little rust. Just pound em out and keep cruisin. Just my $.02 worth. Hodag

The lower part of those back doors is a good indication of why all the diamond plate is there----I agree, you dont cover good metal with that crap.
Id buy but try to bargain for 3500--3600 first. A hand full of smiling Mr Franklins can change a sellers mind many times; much more convincing than "I'll give you..." Dont let it get away.

The guy is pretty honest in his description. He states there are holes in the 1/4's. I am not too concerned about that. The mechanics sell me. The body will go into the shop asap to be fixed.

Take cash. Put 3k on the hood and say there you go. Don’t pay more than 3,600. The guy I bought mine said he wanted 2k, firm, and was in no hurry to sell it. I explained some problems then put 1,500 in 100's on the hood. Drove home in my new land cruiser 10 minutes later. Moral of the story: Cash talks. My only regret is that I should have started lower.

Oh yea, I would bet my cruiser on the fact that there is plenty of rust under that plate-but who cares it’s the cruiser way.

Looks good to me. You should look at the backside of the quarter panels and see if you can tell how bad the rust is.
Mine came with diamond plate qtr panels, but I removed them, grinded out the rust with a drimel. I then arc welded some
steel into place where the holes were. You put the steel on the backside and affix it with duck tape or better to use a flexible
pole to hold it in. Then arc weld from the front. Then you use bondo to smooth out the surface, sand and paint.

You can get an arc welder and the supplies for less than $100 at walmart. I think the price is reasonable if the description is accurate.

Enjoy!!!!

Go for it!

Well, what happened. Sounded like you bought it. What you gonna do to it?
