Hello all, newbie to the 150 family. Just picked up a ‘23 and couldn’t be happier. Racking my brain on mods, but went ahead and threw a fresh coat of wax on my girl.

looking at OME BP-51’s, Dobinson IMS, Ironman, etc. but don’t know which way to go. Any advice on lift, drawers, sliders, front bumpers, etc. is greatly appreciated. I want to build this right the first time with no ’regerts’.

My advise, as you want no regrets: buy once cry once. Don’t forget armor, IMO it’s more important than lift, will serve you better offroad.
Think towards the purpose for your rig and build backwards.

Also, I see NY plates! What part? I’m in the Hudson valley. If your looking to wheel I make runs frequently but you will need some upgrades to hang.

Great advice and that is the plan. Hence, why I am leaning on the experienced members in the forum to help me with my build. I certainly want to do it only once, and right the first time. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Binghamton! I would definitely be up for some fun once I get her up in the air and properly protected.

Contgrat's on your new toy! That color looks amazing!
Here's my 2¢ worth of advice. Uhh, wait... Inflation, $2 worth of advice.
I see you're an Army vet. I am an active Army reservist so you'll understand what I'm about to say regarding mods for your rig.
Plan your end game.
What is it you eventually want to do with it, go with it, use it for:
  • Does it need to be a kiddo hauler weekdays and fire trails on weekends?
  • Road trips
  • Overlanding in remote areas
  • Rock crawling (I don't suggest building for this, beat up a Jeep if you want to do that)
  • Or???
I've built 3 overlanders so far so I can say with experience that this will determine the following:
  • How heavy you need your suspension to be.
  • How much gear you plan on usually hauling for your adventures.
  • How much armor you want.
  • How large of tires are you planning.
  • Do you need a rear bumper to hang a spare tire or will your tire size be small enough for stock location spare.
  • Roof rack.
  • Roof top tent.
What are your electrical needs?
  • Winch?
  • Aux lighting?
  • HAM radios?
  • Electric fridge
  • Inverter?
  • Dual batteries?
  • High output alternator?
And the list goes on as long as your bank account (or your wife) holds out.
I know this probably sounds daunting right now, but spend some time looking at rigs in these build up threads: GX460 / Prado150 - https://forum.ih8mud.com/forums/gx460-prado150.271/?prefix_id=41
Mine is a little on the extreme side but everything works great and my wife and LOVE it!: Builds - R2M 2013 Lexus GX 460 Overland / Overlander Build - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/r2m-2013-lexus-gx-460-overland-overlander-build.1104719/
Works great for road trips, wheeling, overlanding, everything! But again, everyone has they're own taste on how they plan on using their vehicles. This just happens to be ours flavor.

@sPaulp I’m curious about the shade of gray interior in the 23 blackline versus the 22. I know it’s lighter, but I’m wondering how much. Have you seen the interior on both to compare? Any comments?

Beautiful Nori Green Black Line Edition! Good luck with your ride GX.

I've had my eye on a new GX for over a year now and pulled the trigger over the weekend.

Saw one in Nori green and that was it. Had to have it. Supply chain issues have loosened up. Vehicles are available and Lexus sponsored an end of January incentive @ $2500 to take delivery from dealer stock. Some additional negotiations and I did the deal!

Congrats! Any idea if the Lexus incentive is nationwide or localized to your dealer? What was your final purchase price?

I received an email from one dealer that I was talking to about a $2500 Lexus sponsored reduction through the end of the month. It was only applicable only to "in-stock" inventory. Speaking with other area dealers they all confirmed the incentive so at that point it was just a matter of finding one available in Nori Green Pearl and striking a deal. I found one about 40 miles from home and drove over on Saturday afternoon to check it out.

Of course the dealer wanted to add their $1,200 paint protection treatment, $300 Nitrogen filled tire deal along with $1,000 tire and wheel protection. I told them I was neither interested nor willing to pay for any additional fluff. I offered them $60K plus their $459 doc fee and made the deal. Wrote the check and picked it up on Monday.

Great deal for a beautiful, unique, and capable vehicle that will give you 20+ years of life with just fluid changes and other minor maintenance :)
