Yeah... Not exactly easy to deal with. Their doc fee is effectively 1500, which is the most absurd I've ever seen.If I read that ad right, the stealership is adding over $3k in various fees and packages on top of the price listed.
Interesting. I was primarily going straight to the interior pictures to look for it. However, given it's primarily on the lux+ packages it was probably out of the price range I was trying to stay in.I have found quite a few do actually have the offroad package option. The problem is sifting through online adds to find them. Like mentioned by others, many non-lexus dealers mislabel these when selling them. I have found several that do have the off road package, but it's not listed anywhere. You can verify by them having the MTS/CRAWL knob on the left side of the infotainment stack rather than the DAC knob.
Great info! The only reason I would have looked into a CA GX would only be for some of the extras that they came with off the show room floor, as opposed to having to add them on after being purchased down here in the lower 48.Figured I would post an update to this for everyone. Long story short, I did not end up purchasing this vehicle as much as I wanted to. I was attempting to coordinate a cross country ship, but someone else purchased it ahead of me. However, I have some interesting information after several phone calls with Lexus corporate.
I reached out with the following concern: status of the factory warranty since this vehicle was a Canadian spec, and process regarding potential future recalls. I spoke with an employee at the Lexus Brand Engagement Center who redirected me to someone in a more managerial position who seemed to have answers/know more about factory warranties and the recalls.
I did get some interesting information though. As this vehicle stands, at least a week ago, it DID NOT have an active lexus factory warranty according to Lexus corporate. They stated that the factory warranty should transfer to the new US owner, but it does not happen automatically and that it is a dealer driven process. I called one local Lexus dealer and asked about this, and they re-directed me back to the dealer selling the vehicle, stating they should have some papers or something. This chevy dealership had no clue what I was talking about, so I started being led in a circle of non-information. Not sure if people I spoke to were confused or unsure of what I was describing, but the major definitive statement that was true, confirmed by two lexus corporate members, was that the vehicle lacked an active Manufacturer's warranty. Never got a definitive answer on this on what to do next or how to accomplish this.
A couple more considerations, I could not add this vehicle to the MyLexus website to look at service history because of its Canadian VIN. The Lexus members also warned that a lof of the app/locataion related functions and features likely would not work without some sort of ECU update because of the Canadian VIN/location. Another kicker is that they told me that officially a US Lexus dealer could refuse to service recalls. Not guaranteed that they would, but they do have the right to. In that scenario, it would need to be driven back to a Canadian Lexus Service Center for recall work. I stopped digging for more info after the dealership got slow to respond and eventually just told me it sold to someone else.
the mylexus website lets you put vin in "my vehicles" which will give you everything you need to know about the vehicle, including all service record from dealers, and a few non dealers stuff like 3rd tire shopes and oil changesBefore you get too excited, validate with the dealer that it really is a luxury model. The way Lexus does things is a bit different than most other manufacturers, there's no publicly available VIN decoder that will tell you which trim packages were on any given car. Techstream/GTS can do it of course, but a Chevy dealer isn't going to have access to that.
What this leads too, and you see it in non-Lexus dealer ads all the time, is cars that are mislabled as either having no trim level at all, or the dealer spends five minutes making an educated guess.
I'll go ahead and spoil the fun. That truck has the split bench seat in the back. It's not a Luxury model.
My '21 luxury also has:Generally luxury models will have the chrome window trim go all the way round the rear quarter windows, and from your photos, you have that.
Have you looked here at post #13: GX 460 Manuals - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/gx-460-manuals.1129713/
Also, having CC and MT is an easy after market add on that one wouldn't know if it was from the factory or not, so depending upon who the original owner was, they could have added both those features.
What of the following do you have?
If you have all that, then you have the luxury/high end model.
- Mark Levinson®, 17-speaker, 330-watt Premium Surround Sound
- 3 climate zones
- Heated steering wheel
- Navigtion
- and?
You have to be the registered owner of the vehicle for Lexus to allow adding it. I spent several days working with Lexus on the phone to provide them proof of ownership before they would transfer it from the previous owner and allow me to register the VIN on their site/app. This is all done behind the scenes at your dealership, if you buy from a Lexus dealer. If not, you're making some phone calls and will have to prove it's your car.the mylexus website lets you put vin in "my vehicles" which will give you everything you need to know about the vehicle, including all service record from dealers, and a few non dealers stuff like 3rd tire shopes and oil changes
