If I read that ad right, the stealership is adding over $3k in various fees and packages on top of the price listed.

If you end up buying this truck, please do the forum a favor and take some detailed pictures of your brake booster assembly under the hood and post them in the MTS/CC thread. The last bit of info I need to pull the trigger on the rest of the parts for an attempted MTS/CC conversion is verification that the 22/23 trucks w/ off-road package had a different model number of brake booster, specifically the ABS computer manifold thing. I've been going over parts diagrams and Techstream data for months now and I'm about 95% convinced the entire brake booster assembly is different, but there's no off-road models local I can take pictures of.

I’ve seen a few optioned outside of state spec imported from Guam as well.

On CC & MTS for ‘22 & ‘23 a switch swap would be a nice. I don’t recall anyone trying that. It appears possible with same year LC Prados.

The ‘20-‘21 lacked wired from the skid control booster to even attempt.

It’s been so long since I looked at that I don’t recall if wiring harnesses from CC/MTS to switches is the same as the DAC models for 22-23

I have found quite a few do actually have the offroad package option. The problem is sifting through online adds to find them. Like mentioned by others, many non-lexus dealers mislabel these when selling them. I have found several that do have the off road package, but it's not listed anywhere. You can verify by them having the MTS/CRAWL knob on the left side of the infotainment stack rather than the DAC knob.
Interesting. I was primarily going straight to the interior pictures to look for it. However, given it's primarily on the lux+ packages it was probably out of the price range I was trying to stay in.

Figured I would post an update to this for everyone. Long story short, I did not end up purchasing this vehicle as much as I wanted to. I was attempting to coordinate a cross country ship, but someone else purchased it ahead of me. However, I have some interesting information after several phone calls with Lexus corporate.

I reached out with the following concern: status of the factory warranty since this vehicle was a Canadian spec, and process regarding potential future recalls. I spoke with an employee at the Lexus Brand Engagement Center who redirected me to someone in a more managerial position who seemed to have answers/know more about factory warranties and the recalls.

I did get some interesting information though. As this vehicle stands, at least a week ago, it DID NOT have an active lexus factory warranty according to Lexus corporate. They stated that the factory warranty should transfer to the new US owner, but it does not happen automatically and that it is a dealer driven process. I called one local Lexus dealer and asked about this, and they re-directed me back to the dealer selling the vehicle, stating they should have some papers or something. This chevy dealership had no clue what I was talking about, so I started being led in a circle of non-information. Not sure if people I spoke to were confused or unsure of what I was describing, but the major definitive statement that was true, confirmed by two lexus corporate members, was that the vehicle lacked an active Manufacturer's warranty. Never got a definitive answer on this on what to do next or how to accomplish this.

A couple more considerations, I could not add this vehicle to the MyLexus website to look at service history because of its Canadian VIN. The Lexus members also warned that a lof of the app/locataion related functions and features likely would not work without some sort of ECU update because of the Canadian VIN/location. Another kicker is that they told me that officially a US Lexus dealer could refuse to service recalls. Not guaranteed that they would, but they do have the right to. In that scenario, it would need to be driven back to a Canadian Lexus Service Center for recall work. I stopped digging for more info after the dealership got slow to respond and eventually just told me it sold to someone else.

Great info! The only reason I would have looked into a CA GX would only be for some of the extras that they came with off the show room floor, as opposed to having to add them on after being purchased down here in the lower 48.

Sold to someone that didn't do their due diligence like you did. You showed a lot of discipline and I wish you much luck in finding your rig. It is out there!

I don't live too far from Canada and for the heck of it did a quick search for Lexus dealers near me in Canada. I'd have to drive 10 hours and go South, not surprisingly as 70% Canadians live South of the Northern US, and cross over in Detroit to the nearest one. Hard pass especially with no warranty. You did the right thing, fingers crossed for you on the next one.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet. Unless the eventual buyer got something in writing from that Chevy dealer, they're going to be dealing with the same circle jerk trying to activate the warranty on their nearly brand new vehicle. What a headache.

The info about recalls might also reveal a deeper issue, if I'm understanding what they said. If the dealerships can refuse a safety related recall, that must also mean the manufacturer is not liable for the underlying issue, at least by their own understanding of the law. Otherwise they'd never allow dealerships to put them in a liable condition like that.

Before you get too excited, validate with the dealer that it really is a luxury model. The way Lexus does things is a bit different than most other manufacturers, there's no publicly available VIN decoder that will tell you which trim packages were on any given car. Techstream/GTS can do it of course, but a Chevy dealer isn't going to have access to that.

What this leads too, and you see it in non-Lexus dealer ads all the time, is cars that are mislabled as either having no trim level at all, or the dealer spends five minutes making an educated guess.

I'll go ahead and spoil the fun. That truck has the split bench seat in the back. It's not a Luxury model.
the mylexus website lets you put vin in "my vehicles" which will give you everything you need to know about the vehicle, including all service record from dealers, and a few non dealers stuff like 3rd tire shopes and oil changes

Generally luxury models will have the chrome window trim go all the way round the rear quarter windows, and from your photos, you have that.
Have you looked here at post #13: GX 460 Manuals - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/gx-460-manuals.1129713/
Also, having CC and MT is an easy after market add on that one wouldn't know if it was from the factory or not, so depending upon who the original owner was, they could have added both those features.
What of the following do you have?
  • Mark Levinson®, 17-speaker, 330-watt Premium Surround Sound
  • 3 climate zones
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Navigtion
  • and?
If you have all that, then you have the luxury/high end model.
My '21 luxury also has:

  • Self-leveling adaptive air suspension
  • Heated wood-trimmed steering wheel
  • Upgraded leather upholstery
  • Standard power-folding third row
  • Surround-view camera
  • Heated power-folding outside mirrors
  • Cargo-area tonneau cover
  • Illuminated door scuff plates
  • 19-in split-six-spoke alloy wheels with Gray and machined finish

You have to be the registered owner of the vehicle for Lexus to allow adding it. I spent several days working with Lexus on the phone to provide them proof of ownership before they would transfer it from the previous owner and allow me to register the VIN on their site/app. This is all done behind the scenes at your dealership, if you buy from a Lexus dealer. If not, you're making some phone calls and will have to prove it's your car.
