Need to remove the shims for 100 series pads, use disk brake quiet, flush entire brake system and you're good to go.

Mark me down as not supporting Toyota pads. They produce tons of dust and get noisy. I prefer EBC greenstuff pads.

Factory are great, but I went cheap with some auto parts store in house pads. It stops fine, no noise since break in, I clean it often enough to not notice dust. I was going to order some Toyota pads to replace them but decided to wear them out first. Just be sure to get some with shims or flat backings to reuse old shims.
BTW, part of my job is installing Toyota pads. They have slight advantages in noise and consistency, but the way I drive my 6000 lb cruiser I can't justify spending money on them to "upgrade" from my cheap aftermarket ones. Power feels same. I guess what I'm getting at is there is nothing wrong with the better aftermarket ones, just a matter of where you want to put your money.

I haven't noticed more dust than normal and no noise at all on yota pads.
Changed the pads and rotors on my 4runner yesterday. Rotors were warped, changed pads just cause.
The pads had 30% material left after over 100,000 miles.
This ^ ^ ^ exactly.....compounds, post-asbestos, for OEM have changed and now have a tendency to glaze and make tons of noise. Will wear forever but will also wear on your nerves forever....EBC GreenStuffs.
How big a deal is flushing/bleeding the brake system?

I have yet to experience this in any Toyota I have owned and I have always used OEM brake pads. In my 80, I use the 100 Series pads up front and standard 80 Series pads out back. Plenty of Mud vendors to procure parts from.

I am currently running Power Stop rotors and pads. So far so good, but it is very early on in my use of them. Bleeding the brakes is a piece of cake. My friend pumped the brakes, I bled the calipers. Very easy. It was my first time also.
I did the rear pads last weekend. One of the bleeder valves was seriously seized and was destroyed during removal. I replaced both with new bleeders with built-in one way valves. Cheap and handy upgrade...
