Need help with 1973 FJ40 lift up gate glass install

I bought the glass seal for my glass. Does the glass seal for the year require a weatherstrip key? They don't seem to sell one for it at SOR. Any help on installing it would be helpful. Thanks

Yes it does but the key I got doesn't line up with the grooves.

I don't remember one on my 74.

Just double checked, no key on the rear hatch.

thats on a 74.....73 or 72 and earlier have them.

Should be a soap and rope type seal/ gasket.

I got my seal from SOR. It is a cut to fit. CityRacer seems to have one slips on. Is that better?

I wonder why they would change it for one year? Or did ROW get hatches for a longer period?

Has to do with a sheetmetal change.
Earlier years the windows are reccessed into the top and hatch.
74 that changed to flush mounted.

Hardtop is a 70 or 71, lift gate is a 74.
