I need some help, guys. I'm trying to get a friend's 72 ready for it's first safety inspection since... I don't know when.

It has a skyjacker lift kit and 33x9.5x15 BFG AT tires on factory 15X5.5 wheels. He wants to keep the tall+skinny look. Two of the tires are probably good enough to drive on for a while, but two are de-laminating from sitting in the sun too long. After tireless searching, I have found that the BFG 33x9.5x15 is on national back order. The Super Swamper Narrow S.S. 34x9.5x15 or the Super Swamper TSL Bias 32x9.5x15 would be his second choices, but we can't seem to find any for sale. We're not looking for highway tires, just gettin' around town and mild off road use.

What else is available? He wants to keep the look of the original wheels and skinny tires. He also wants to keep the taller tire profile and lift kit.

Toyo makes a 33"x 10.50R15. They aren't cheap though! They're almost twice the price of toyo 33"x 12.50R15.... Mind you, tires are twice as much up here in Canada...hell, so is everything else, that's why I get all my parts out of the states.

I have a set of 35"x10.5"x15 if you are interested. They are centipedes and they are really aggressive tires. They have well over 75% of the tread left on them. Let me know if you're interested I don't live that far from you.

Available? Where? I don't think so. Not for a long time. All the reviews of those are from the early part of this century.

This is where all my searches seem to lead. I have discovered tires that might work only after they were disco'ed or have taken a manufacturing vacation (BFG claims a 90-120 day wait list for the AT in the size I want).

I've had a retail tire chain tell me that they will not mount a 10.5" wide tire on a 5.5" wide rim. Before being told this, we were about to pull the trigger on 33X10.5X15 BFG AT's. Has anybody had any experiences with this combination? I'm thinking the tread might have a tendency to crown, but the 9.5" tires that are currently on the rig have a little crown to them. I would be able to have a local independent tire shop mount whatever combination he can fit.

the tall and skinny in 15" is getting very hard to find these days...

I had the 34/9.5x15" TSL's on my cruiser...they are a super great off road tire...on road they wore down really fast

yes many people have put 10.5's on cruiser oem rims

I'm diggin those STA tires- why not give those a shot?

Reviving an old post - seems like a lot has changed with availability of tall/skinny tires for 15" rims. It's gotten worse. I want to keep the appropriate vintage look and hate when tires stick out and throw road crap all down the sides. Has anybody shopped lately? I'm more of a pavement w/ occasional offroad use vs. hardcore trail rig. I don't want anything more aggressive then A/T. Thanks.

I am running a set of 33x10.5r15 BFG ATs on the stock rims. Some places will not mount them for you due to the stock wheels being so narrow, but they work just fine. Have a nice tall/skinny look with a tire that is still available (or it was last year when I bought them).

Mounting the 10.5" tire on the stock rim gives it a nice tall/skinny look. Mounting it on a wider rims make the the tire look rounder IMO. I looked earlier this week and the BFG 33x10.5x15 MTs were available on Tire Rack.

The coolest skinny tire of all time is still available.

34x10.50-15 LTB 34x10.50-15LT, LTB

You can install them on stock rims easily.
