Hi all,My name is Steve. I have a 78 FJ40 that I am about 7 years into the renovation. I have been meaning to get out to one of the meetings, but 4 kids and job that kicks my A$$ keeps me from doing what is important, hence the 7 years to rebuild my 40. Anyway, frame, tub, brake/fuel lines, cowl, carb rebuild all done. Now I am tackling the body. Stumbaugh has showed me some pointers on welding. I have dabbled and I feel I am getting there (sloooowly) with regards to this skill. I can muddle my way through some patch work I am doing. I have a blast cabinet for all my small stuff (open to you all and feel free to let me know if you would like to use it if you don't alredy have one). But I need a place to do the fenders, hood, barn doors etc. Any advice would be appreciated, and I look forward to getting to a meeting soonSteve

I'm wrapping up a frame-off myself, only took two and a half years. Sandblast America in Manassas has done a great job for me. They can also powdercoating. They are reasonable and easy to deal with.

Thanks...I'll give them a call today. Looks like the "local resources" thread says to ask for Jeff. I got some quotes from two othee places that quoted me about $200 for ONE side of the hood and about $180 per fender and about the same for the barn doors. That seemed excessive. Thats just for blasting not including primer. Thanks for the info.Steve

heck of a thread title too. i was almost afraid to click on it at work.

If you have a decent sized compressor, you can get Eastwood's blaster kit and do it yourself. It's a suction device that you stick in a bucket of sand and off you go. The hood is kinda cheezy, but will suffice for small jobs.

No sweat on the coil/igniter. Glad it worked. What is the cleanup like on blasting in your driveway. I have a large enough compressor, but I imagined the logistics would be a pain in the A$$.

Use Dan's driveway.

If it's too hot on the driveway you can use Dan's kitchen.

just put a tiki bar out front w/ some palm trees afterwards. Don't need clean up when you're creating your own personal beach.

Best response yet! That's what I call creating solutions.

You all may already know this info as I am new to this clubhouse forum. Just thought I would pass this on in case. Just had a lot of my parts blasted. Great place in Fredricksburg called Advavanced Coating Solutions (540-898-9370). Nolan, the owner, was very accomidating. Dropped off my stuff on Friday on the way to the beach and he met me at the shop on Sunday to pick up my parts so I wouldn't have to drive back during the week. Very cool. And the coolest part of all...did a spectacular job on my hood, two fenders, bib, tire carrier, and two barn doors for $250. Very reasonable, accomidating and does good work. If you all already know this....disregard. I felt he deserved a shout-out.

That's a hell of a price

So I guess this means no club tiki party?

Imagine that, Dan in a grass skirt doing the limbo:-(
