Never checked into it to verify a clearance issues but the reverse light switch for the one piece transfer case comes off the back. Split case it's on the top. If the change was because the way the split case mounts to the transmission not sure.
Here is the pre 8/80 H42 with reverse light switch.
H42 with the split case.
Looks like it should work but can't be 100% certain it it rotate into the hole mounted to the split transfer case.
If you do part out I could use that top cover for this 79 H42 that is rebuild able

I will part out if you have specific parts. It may take a few days to ship, the truck just threw a spark plug (Ford modular engine). Have to borrow momma's 4 runner.

I am interested in the top cover if it isn't spoken for. I could also use the front input shaft bearing cover for my early H55F conversion from a B engine to F/H engine. The output shaft looks in better condition than a few of mine. One being an early H41.
