Navigation beep....stop it.

@Motleyone FWIW - if you press 'display' and then 'screen off' it will no longer default to nav screen. Screen will be off until you press a function like 'Audio' and then pressing the same function again will return to off screen. I rarely use the nav screen, on trails I will put it in compass display with the GPS coordinates.

I was going to start a new thread, but found this one buried in the archives.

Every time I hit a button on the nav stack it's "BEEP!" Anyone figure out how to turn this off or down?

This Thread may be very old, but I may have the solution. It lies under the passenger seat.

Edit: Image edited

Before I go further, if you don't feel comfortable with electronics, DO NOT ATTEMPT IT. The worst you can do is blow a fuse. :)

There is a wire called BEEP that comes from the stock head unit and goes into the stereo. I was trying to figure out how to implement that into the aftermarket amp. (my guess could be it spliced together with the left speaker wire? I gotta tinker with it another time.)

Going back to the BEEP wire. If you just remove that wire coming from the head unit it eliminates it completely from the system. If you want, you can actually get a rocker switch that just completes the circuit and flip it on or off when needed.

That's it really, I attached another photo with the harness. It's the green wire. (This is a 2005 cruiser.)

Let me know if that worked.

Reviving an old thread. Is this last post the only way to disable navigation/audio head unit beeps? There has got to be an easier way to turn the beeps off. It beeps every time we touch any button or the screen. I could not even find an option in TechStream custom config menu.

Are talking about the same beep that happens when you push the physical climate buttons as well?

@Couvi, yea, that's the beep. Wonder if @SquareOne every clipped the wire to see what would happen?

I have done my audio system a while back. I do remember testing the wires out to bypass the amp and I had pulled the beep wire. It did stop the beep, but I don't remember if it went through the nav and then the front left speaker.

I need to pull the seat up when I get the chance to confirm it 100%. If anyone has the chance just buy a cheap wire harness terminal tool for a couple of bucks and pop out the solid green wire, the photo is on my last post #24.

Update:

Sent my vehicle into Lexus to unpin this wire from the deck and from amp… this wire does not exist for the 2005 LX470 with the ML system.

SquareOne, you are 100% correct. My dog is scared of beeps and thanks to this thread, no more beeps. 15 minute job well worth the time.
