Just got my new front winch bumper. I think it turned out great and love the added protection it provides as well as allowing me to have a winch up front now. The bumper is a modular design so the sides bolt on to the center section. The whole thing is stout as heck. I had the sides made a little narrow because I plan on getting rid of the flares and it should line up great. Let me know what you think.

Details! Who made it, how much, etc. Looks good!

This was designed and built by HeftyFabworks in Colorado Springs. They've been making bumpers for full-size fords for a while now, and this is their prototype for the 80 series. This will soon be in production. Check out HeftyFabWorks - Custom bumpers, sliders and more for your 4x4 but know that it's in the process of being updated, but all of their contact info is accurate. Nothing there yet about the LCs but it should be on there soon with prices.

All I can say is I'm :D. I'll be their mock-up for 80 series sliders too in the near future and for a plate-style front for my pickup.

looks great

Do you know if they use 3/16ths or 1/4 steel?

Hi,
My name is Chris. Ardentyota turned me onto this site. I built the bumper on Nathan's landcruiser. The main body of the bumper is built from 3/16" steel and all the mounting surfaces are 1/4" steel. This provides the optimum strength to weight ratio for this application. HeftyFabworks has been a leader in full size Ford applications and design and has recently started to look to offering bumpers, sliders and more to the Toyota community as well. I am happy that you find the bumper appealing and I hope the price will be appealing too. Visit our website at HeftyFabWorks.com for more information on our products. The site is under construction but we will update it shortly with products and pricing for the Toyota products as well. There will be two variations for the LC bumpers. Both the plate style as shown and a tube version that can be seen on the website. Pricing will be the same as the Ford bumpers and all of the same options are available.

Thanks again,
Chris Hefty

And here's a couple of the built-in AC dryer protection. We're planning on also making an addition plate that extends under it to make sure noting can hit it from below.

can you explain the "modular" part? it looks like the wings can detach - is that correct? Will a version be made that is not modular? not sure i like that

Yes, the sides/wings bolt on to the center section. There are a couple reasons for this that I understand-

While wheeling, the most common area of the bumper to be damaged is the wing. If I end up destroying one or more of the wings, I can simply order a replacement set of wings instead of a whole new bumper. Ask anyone who's hit a tree with their ARB hard enough to bend it- it usually ends up as scrap.

Eventually there will be tube sides available for the LCs similar to what is on the HeftyFabworks.com website (On the Bronco) By having the one center section for both styles, production costs are lowered, and that transfers to the purchaser.

Shipping costs are lowered as well since HeftyFabworks can ship the bumper in a much smaller box and avoid freight/palleting charges.

These picture might help in visualizing how they work. These are not the LC bumpers, but ranter the full size ford versions with tube sides:

And folded up for shipping:

Chris (Hefty) might have to answer the question about a non-modular version. I'm sure it's possible but I can't tell you whether or not he will.

All of our production bumpers come in a modular design. The reasons that Ardentyota stated are exactly the reasons we do it this way. We have customers who have changed between the tube style to the plate style and if you damage the outer plate we can replace just the damaged piece rather than the entire bumper. The side plate mounting is more than strong enough to take any impact. We suggest applying a bead of silicone to the sections when bolting together for corrosion resistance.

UCB, to answer your question, we are a full fabrication shop and will build anything a customer wants including any of our production bumpers as a single unit. For more information please e-mail me at: sales@heftyfabworks.com

Can u ship those in flat rate USPS boxes? :)

Now I just got a hell of a deal on a brush guard (not a standard pos) and I see this sweet thing!

I want to know some stuff...(if youd be so kind!)

EDIT I got on his site an answered some of my ?'s (please fill in the rest!)

First is it painted or powdercoated? Is it alot cheaper if I order mine unfinished?

Looks like it comes unfinished...$150.00 for powdercoat...

Second How much man how much?

$825.00 according to his site I assume its comparable...but whats shipping gonna run?

Third and most importantly... I like this bumper because its lower in the front center han most...looks great and more protection...I hate that its too narrow for flares (loves me the flares) so can it be ordered in a flared versoin...you know the right width?

Thanks in advance...if its priced right...Ill bite!

Edit: I also am wondering if they can make a set up for the center to accept in bumper fogs...like the arb deluxe does for the 100 series...f****** 100 series! lol

Also who wheels broncos lol? Now I'm being insensitive!
