Hopefully Bilsteins.... I've heard great things abougt them.
Although my budget states I should go with Ranchos - this is one area where I don't want to skimp.
Comparing your Alcan setup with OME price wise there really isn't a huge difference. Wonder what the better setup is??
I say that Alcans are better because you can not only completely customize your weight ratings, but you can also specify the length of the spring from eye to eye, both compressed and not, for the purpose of obtaining the correct shackle angle. OME's are traditionally too short to have a proper shackle angle, or so I've read.
I have 5" Alcans all the way around and they have simmered to about 4.5" but are nice and soft and flexy!

I've been running Alcan's for a few years now. They are a great spring and do what they are intended to do. The springs I run are designed to provide 4" of lift under heavy load. They do a fantastic job of stabilizing a large weight-load and do an even better job of carrying that load off-road. That said, as soon as I unload (bumpers, gear) the truck sits very high and the shackle angles make for a very rough ride. As far as shocks go, the options get very limited if you wish to retain the stock mounting in front and take advantage of the extended travel and weight capacity of the springs. In dealing with such a high SUA lift the steering can get a bit tricky to. I even considered running a high steer setup to bring everything back into line. Caster shims were a must as my caster changed almost four degrees! But once I got evrything dialed in, well, i'm sure you will enjoy them!
I personally had two sets of "custom" engineered springs from Alcan fail. Set one went completely flat within 100 miles of home and ruined a Moab trip. Set 2 dropped 4" of height within 1000 miles and put a serious strain on an Alaskan trip. Not to mention the 4 ruined tires. If you have a heavy 60 series I would look at OME only, period ..... been there done that already. Bob
Not to question you, but did you specify the loads you were running?
Ive heard of many satisfied alcan customers, and quite honestly, youre the only dis-satified report that Ive heard.
Again, not trying to insult, Im just courious.
